SUMMARY:

The Emergency Referral Assistant will play a pivotal role in ensuring that all referral cases reporting to the state referral hospitals receive the necessary care in a timely and efficient manner. This individual will oversee the entire referral process, from initial contact to reimbursement, ensuring that patients receive the care they need without undue delay. One of the key responsibilities of the Emergency Referral Assistant is to review patients' documents and verify payment details before proceeding with reimbursement. This ensures that patients are adequately supported and that the financial aspect of their care does not pose a barrier to accessing essential services.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate the referral process for patients to state referral hospitals.
  • Review patients' documents and verify payment details for reimbursement.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reimbursement of patients' expenses related to referral care.
  • Liaise with healthcare providers and administrative staff to expedite the referral process.
  • Maintain detailed records of all referral cases and reimbursement transactions.
  • Provide support and guidance to patients and their families throughout the referral process.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to address any issues or concerns related to referrals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the referral system, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Stay updated on relevant policies, procedures, and regulations related to referral care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure a seamless referral experience.
  • Share an updated referral data base at the end of the month 
  • Ensure proper follow up of referrals to ensure proper outcomes
  • Coordinate with the ambulance team to ensure effective ambulance services.
