 Background:

Job Title: Internal Auditor 

Base: Port-Sudan with visit to state field offices.

Location: Port-Sudan.

Start Date: Immediately.

Contract Duration: 12 Months.

Gross Salary: 1,250 USD (the payment will be in SDG currency).

Grade level: Grade 4 (out of 5)

Reporting to: Country Director.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Major Functions/ Responsibilities: 

  • Obtain, analyze, and evaluate accounting documentation, reports, and data.
  • Assist to document the audit process and prepares audit findings and corrective actions. Also, prepare and present reports that clearly reflects the audit results.
  • Support and strengthen Risk Management processes by developing and supporting the update and monitoring of the HOPE risk register.
  • Identify the financial risk of the organization and offer recommendations to reduce risk.
  • Monitor management response to audit reviews, ensuring that all agreed audit actions and recommendations are accurate and timely implemented and corrected.
  • Work closely with external or visiting/ donor auditors and support their audit process.
  • Ensure that audits are performed with due professional care and that there are credible and trackable audit observations, conclusions and recommendations.
  • Execute control and compliance checks/ transfers includes control and compliance checks/ transfers of the HQ Office and sub-state offices. 
  • Evaluate key systems for effective internal checks and procedures to safeguard HOPE’s assets, and also identify and analyze the causes of uneconomical and inefficient practices in assigned areas of responsibility. 
  • Conduct reviews with a zero tolerance policy perspective such as safeguarding and fraud, bribery, and corruption, and report immediately if any non-compliance is noted.
  • Promptly report any unusual transactions or indications of fraud.
  • Maintain fundamental principles and ethics of auditing, such as a high level of confidentiality, integrity, objectivity, professional competence, and behavior.
  • Evaluate financial documents for accuracy and compliance with HOPE regulations.
  • Identify accounting and financial record-keeping processes that can be improved.
  • Apply and maintain the financial documentation system in HQ and support finance team to maintain in the Field offices.
  • Any other assignment or responsibility determined by management of HOPE.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: 

  1. At least 7 years of related experience in a similar position in finance or role;
  2. At least 3 years of experience working for non-governmental organizations;
  3. Education: University degree in public accounting;
  4. Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred;
  5. Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail, good analytical skills;
  6. Fluent written and oral communication skills in English Language; and
  7. Experience designing and using excel and accounting software.
