Duties and responsibilities:
- This position is 100% field-based (60% in project implementation sites, 40% at RI’s office with frequent travel to RI-supported locations across North Darfur.
- Under the direct supervision of the UN Grants Program Manager, the Project Manager will lead the implementation of the Therapeutic Supplementary Feeding Programme (TSFP) funded by WFP.
- The role involves overseeing field operations, supervising field teams, ensuring the smooth and timely distribution of food commodities, coordinating with stakeholders, and strengthening program integration with WASH and protection services.
- The Project Manager will play a key role in planning, monitoring, and adapting program strategies, ensuring alignment with WFP guidelines and national protocols, while building staff capacity and promoting efficient, transparent operations.
- Provide ongoing technical and managerial support to the partner, facilitate regular performance reviews, and ensure that timely corrective actions are taken when needed. S/he will also represent the project in relevant coordination forums, strengthen collaboration with stakeholders, and support internal learning and adaptation based on field realities.
- Key responsibilities
Program Coordination, Technical Quality, and Strategy: - Lead the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the TSFP in targeted localities across North Darfur.
- Provide technical and managerial oversight to the implementing partner, ensuring timely, quality, and compliant delivery of project activities.
- Ensure the program meets national nutrition protocols, WFP technical guidance, and donor requirements.
- Conduct periodic needs assessments and use findings to improve targeting and effectiveness.
- Supervise field staff and ensure high-quality service delivery, proper beneficiary registration, and consistent reporting.
- Oversee logistics and food pipeline management in coordination with the warehouse, logistics, and supply chain teams.
- Establish community engagement mechanisms and support outreach activities to improve program coverage and community ownership.
- Support integration of nutrition and protection services to address multisectoral needs of vulnerable populations.
- Coordinate referrals for malnourished children and PLW requiring further care.
- Support the implementation of adaptive strategies in response to changing security or programmatic contexts.
Program Development / Grant Management: - Contribute to the design of new proposals and expansion of nutrition services in line with WFP and donor priorities.
- Develop procurement and distribution plans in close coordination with logistics and finance teams.
- Monitor program budgets and ensure expenditure aligns with approved plans.
- Lead on the preparation of high-quality reports for WFP and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with all donors, RI, and national regulations, including procurement, financial management, and reporting standards.
Staff Performance Management, Learning & Development: - Recruit and supervise TSFP project staff, ensuring clarity of roles and responsibilities.
- Provide on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and capacity building of nutrition supervisors, assistants, and community volunteers.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals and support career development planning.
- Promote teamwork, accountability, and a supportive work culture.
- Monitor staff wellbeing and safety, particularly during field movements and food distribution.
Monitoring program implementation: - Lead field visits to monitor TSFP implementation, ensure quality standards, and address implementation gaps.
- Oversee implementation of MEAL plans by the partner, ensuring accurate data collection, timely reporting, and use of findings for program improvement.
- Work closely with the MEAL team to analyze data, track performance indicators, and ensure evidence-based decision-making.
- Facilitate monthly program review meetings and participate in multi-sectoral reflection sessions.
- Ensure beneficiary feedback and complaints are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
Coordination & Representation: - Represent RI in state-level coordination forums and nutrition sector meetings.
- Collaborate with WFP, SMoH, HAC, and other partners to ensure strong stakeholder coordination.
- Liaise with community leaders and local authorities to ensure acceptance and sustainability of program interventions.
- Foster partnerships with INGOs and local NGOs for improved coverage and joint learning.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Essential Criteria: - Bachelor’s degree in nutrition, Public Health, or a related field. A master’s degree is an asset.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing nutrition or health projects, preferably in conflict-affected settings.
- Proven experience in implementing TSFP or similar food assistance/nutrition programs.
- Solid experience working with WFP programs and knowledge of their tools and reporting platforms.
- Strong knowledge of logistics, supply chain, food distribution, and field-based implementation.
- Experience supervising field teams and building staff capacity in emergency settings.
- Excellent interpersonal and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively with government, UN agencies, and NGOs.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written); Arabic proficiency highly preferred.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and report writing skills.
- Ability to travel regularly to field sites under challenging conditions.
Desirable Criteria: - Experience working in North Darfur or similar fragile contexts.
- Experience managing multi-sectoral programs (Nutrition, WASH, Protection).
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
