Job Profile

The SCO Manager (Commodity & Logistics Coordinator) oversees logistics and commodity management across all locations with 40% field travel. Directly manages the Port Sudan-based commodity team and technically supervises field warehouse leads. Ensures timely stock reporting, accurate GIK finance submissions and adherence to Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP). Coordinates import documentation, freight logistics and stock pipelines with key stakeholders. Leads warehouse setup/closure and conducts regular training on inventory management. Facilitates monthly coordination with project, procurement, health and warehouse teams.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

 

  • 40% Roving to field offices
  • Accountable for logistics and commodity management across all locations
  • Directly manage Port Sudan based Commodity team
  • Dotted line technical management of field warehouse leads
  • Ensure stock reports are completed for all locations and shared with project staff on a monthly basis
  • Ensure GIK monthly reporting to finance is accurate and complete at all levels
  • Conduct warehouse checks and data capture and analysis to ensure Good Storage and Distribution Practices (GSDP) which drive full stock tractability and minimise stock losses from poor storage conditions and accurate reporting.
  • Monthly meetings with the health team and pharmacists to continuously triangulate stock and consumption monitoring data to ensure sufficient timely delivery to end destinations, avoid stock outs and enable timely reordering
  • Provide monthly stock reports, including analysis and recommendations to the SCO Manager
  • Support Port Sudan Commodity Officer in obtaining relevant import documentation for international shipments
  • Coordinate with all relevant stakeholders to request, order, put in place, track and implement freight from Juba to the field offices
  • work with project managers to design optimal distribution plans considering the RI supply chain, partner storage capacities and conditions and local seasonal/access constraints
  • Coordinating with the procurement unit and project teams to manage stock receipt pipelines ensuring that there is sufficient suitable storage available where and when needed
  • Lead on setting up new storage locations (design, sourcing, setup), and closing down unneeded storage locations
  • Conduct regular warehouse and inventory management trainings with project and warehouse staff in all locations (at least 2 per year)
  • Monthly meeting with all warehouse staff in RI Sudan to ensure all are aligned on procurement progress, challenges and priorities (in line with project priorities)

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead the Commodity & Logistics team across all locations in Sudan, ensuring effective and compliant functioning.
  • Provide strategic and technical oversight on Commodity & stock management matters.
  • Collaborate closely with the Procurement, Operations and Programs teams to ensure aligned, effective support to programs.
  • Coordinate monthly reviews of Commodity & Logistics performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide feedback and capacity building to field Commodity & Logistics leads.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Review and analyze commodity & logistics reports.
  • Support proposal development with accurate logistics inputs.
  • Provide KPI reporting and lead improvement initiatives based on performance analysis.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications & Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Procurement, Logistics, Administration or related field with demonstrated experience in commodity & logistics and (or) Administration in Sudan.
  • Minimum of 5 years commodity & logistics experience, including at least 2 years in Warehousing Management
  • Prior experience with INGOs or multi-stakeholder environments preferred at Least 2 years.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic (written and verbal)
  • Understanding of BHA, ECHO, AICS, UN Donors compliance and regulations
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, facilitation skills and writing skills.
  • High level of discretion and sensitivity when dealing with confidential matters
  • Advanced computer skills preferably in Ms. Excel and data analytic softwares.
