 Duties and responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Officer will play a key role in supporting the implementation of Relief International’s Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL) programs in Aj Jazirah State. This position is responsible for facilitating beneficiary targeting, registration, and distribution processes, as well as actively contributing to ERMS activities. The FSL Officer will oversee project planning, beneficiary selection, agricultural/livestock input distribution, training of community and volunteer livestock health workers, arranging veterinary mobile clinics and monitoring of agricultural/livestock activities to enhance food security and livelihoods. Additionally, the Officer will ensure compliance with Relief International’s technical standards and policies, collaborating closely with field teams to guarantee the timely, efficient, and accountable delivery of project activities.

Main Responsibilities:

Program Implementation:

 

  • Support FSL activities such training program for Community Animal Health Workers, veterinarians, livestock holders and distribution of livestock related inputs and treatment campaigns.
  • Lead beneficiary identification, registration, and verification processes in collaboration with communities and stakeholders
  • Ensure transparent and accountable delivery of agricultural/livestock inputs 
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor the implementation of activities and address challenges.
  • Collaborate with the supply chain and finance teams to ensure smooth execution of FSL interventions.
  • Ensure that all activities are implemented in a gender-sensitive and culturally appropriate manner.
  • Organize community sensitization meetings to inform beneficiaries about the project objectives and processes.
  • Work closely with local government authorities, community leaders, and farmers to facilitate project activities
  • Provide/organize training and technical support to farmers and youth on livestock management and resilience Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Collect and document data on distributions/trainings/livestock treatment and beneficiary feedback, 
  • Prepare progress reports and ensure timely submission to the FSL coordinator.
  • Contribute to baseline, midterm, endline evaluations and post distribution monitoring information to measure project impact.
  • Support the documentation of lessons learned, best practices, and case studies.
  • Ensuring accountability mechanisms are in place, including feedback and complaint systems for beneficiaries.
  • Monitor agricultural/livestock production activities and track project impact on food security and income generation.
  • Ensure proper documentation and reporting of input distribution, field activities, trainings, livestock treatment and beneficiary feedback.

Capacity Building:

  • Conduct training sessions to enhance understanding of FSL activities.
  • Provide support and guidance to community mobilizers and other field staff in implementing project activities.

Coordination and Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the FSL Coordinator to ensure alignment of activities with project objectives.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, local authorities, and partner organizations to facilitate smooth project implementation.
  • Participate in relevant coordination forums and provide updates on field activities when required.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in animal husbandry/veterinary sciences, Agriculture or a related field.
  • Experience: 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in implementing FSL projects especially livestock-related interventions.
  • Experience in beneficiary targeting and registration processes.
  • Experience in agricultural/livestock input distribution and farmer training is highly desirable
  • Strong understanding of livestock related issues/challenges in Sudan and climate-smart solutions. 
  • Skills: 
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic understanding of data collection and reporting tools.
  • Effective communication skills in English and Arabic (oral and written).
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Other Competencies: 
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Understanding of gender and protection principles in FSL programming.
  • Willingness to travel to remote areas as needed.
