 Background:

Welthungerhilfe (WHH) is a German non-profit, non-partisan, and non-denominational Organization, working in about 38 countries around the world and has been working in Sudan since 1998 WHH sectoral focus is humanitarian assistance, Sustainable Food and Nutrition Security (SFNS) and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH).



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Objectives of the Position: 

Managing and implementing programmes and projects on the basis of specified directives in terms of content, schedule and budget.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Head of Project has all but not limited to the following duties and responsibilities.

  • The Head of Project carries out the project according to the co-financing agreement 
  • and Welthungerhilfe's standards for the implementation of projects.
  • The Head of Project is responsible for modifying and continuing project planning and 
  • the project budget.
  • responsible for correctly and duly completing end-of-month accounts.
  • examines and signs end-of-month accounts.
  • Is responsible for preparing (does not apply if there is a PA in the project) or 
  • examining inventory accounting.
  • Is responsible for project purchases according to the approved procurement budget.
  • When purchases are made locally, the Head of Project is responsible for observing 
  • internal or external procurement directives.
  • responsible for controlling inventories.
  • responsible for carrying out regular petty cash controls.
  • Responsible for the financial report (final report).
  • Prepares or examines distribution reports.
  • Prepares status reports according to Welthungerhilfe standards or the rules of 
  • Donors
  • Responsible for bringing the project to an orderly conclusion.
  • Responsible for the security of expatriate staff and national staff involved in the 
  • project and for the implementation of the security plan.
  • Prepares and supervises visits 
  • Performs other tasks which arise during the course of an assignment in the country office
  • Specific responsibilities:
  • Hold overall responsibility for the implementation of the project in coordination with local partners and according to the workplan and budget.
  • Hold overall responsibility for the coordination of the consortium providing regular updates to the Head of Programmes.
  • Hold overall responsibility for ensuring donor reporting deadlines are met, both narrative and financial.
  • Ensure all project data is uploaded on PROMIS and kept updated as needed.
  • Coordinate with deputy head of project to conduct coordination meetings with WHH/Sudan implementing partners.
  • Coordinate with deputy head of project to ensure effective communication with implementing partners and support them to delivery timely project activities.
  • In collaboration with Livelihoods Coordinator continuously identify the economic recovery needs and opportunities in project areas. Propose and implement actions to cover these needs, as well as areas of integration with emergency programming.
  • Manage and recruit the project team including livelihoods officers, business counselors, trainers, and other service providers when required.
  • Carry out financial management of the project, producing financial forecasts and verifying budgets vs actual on regular basis.
  • Ensure that a project procurement plan is in place and is implemented in coordination with logistics department.
  • Collaborate with partnership team in the management of partnership agreements and capacity building areas for partners.
  • Gather output level data and work with MEAL team to analyze key information linked to project outputs and quality.
  • Contribute to positioning WHH as a key member in economic recovery and livelihoods action with participation coordination platforms as agreed with the Livelihoods Coordinator.
  • Regularly meet with local stakeholders including economic development department, municipalities, business associations and others to ensure they are informed about WHH economic recovery activities.
  • Actively support Head of Programs and in-country Technical Advisors in the development of new proposals and the country strategy as required.
  • Collaborate with Technical Advisors to ensure best practices, lessons learned and challenges are documented and shared.
  • Ensure protection mainstreaming in the implementation of the of the project.

 

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Knowledge/qualifications

 

Education:  Higher university degree in community Development, Social Sciences, or another related field.
Experience: At least 7 years’ professional experience on project coordination and management of project expenditure/ plans with international organization.

Experience in planning, leading and coordinating with other partners at the field level.

Experience on managing teams and working with donor fund project.   

Advance knowledge on  MS Office skills (MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access) is mandatory.

Strong communication on spoken and writing English language is mandatory.
