Duties and responsibilities:
Job Summary: As Gender and Protection Senior Project Officer within the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning – Program Quality (MEAL-PQ) unit, you will provide cross-cutting support, coordinate, and monitor Gender, protection, Safe and dignified activities to assist the achievement of the World Bank funded Sudan Enhancing Community Resilience project’s objectives under Nutrition component advancing CRS’s work serving the poor and vulnerable You will provide technical and implementation leadership in designing implementing, coordinating, and reporting on for the project's Gender and Protection related activities as required under Nutrition component, including ensuring safe and dignified programming and the roll out of SH/SEA/GBV action plan of the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP) under Environmental Social Management Framework (ESMF) in the project. You will ensure high program quality through promoting inclusive gender strategies, applications and learning across Sudan overall programming and operations such as Human Resources, including in delivery of CRS’ commitments on gender, protection and safe and dignified programming. Roles and Responsibilities: - Lead technical, budget management, monitoring and reporting activities related to gender based violence (GVB), Sexual Harassment/Sexual exploitation action plan, including safe and dignified programming, inclusion of the Environmental and Social Commitment Plan (ESCP) as part of Environmental Social Management Framework (ESMF)in the project and through most of the project cycle - start-up, implementation and close-out - in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices, including local regulations for all targeted states.
- Provide technical lead on all aspects of GVB, Safe and dignified, SEA/SH action plan, including close coordination with the Feedback, complaint and Response mechanism (FCRM)/Grievance Redress Mechanisms (GRM), and support project Implementation Units (PIU) in implementing social and accountability standards, compliance to the local laws and ensure that women and other excluded groups are actively involved in project activities and that their voices are heard through a feedback system.
- Lead cross-cutting gender initiatives in the project and support in ensuring gender and inclusivity are also mainstreamed in projects (and their MEAL systems) across the CP and across Agriculture component.
- Ensure projects’ learning and communication materials highlight stories from diverse groups (women, young people, persons with disability, and other vulnerable groups), meet the information needs of all stakeholders, and use appropriate and accessible communication channels for target audiences.
- Design and execute capacity development programs on gender and social inclusion, providing technical support and training for projects and partners.
- Represent the organization in PIU with World Bank, implementing partners meetings, at regional forums and other national INGO platforms or networks (such as gender, GBV, PSEA and social inclusion), relevant local partners and key stakeholders and other relevant stakeholders in Sudan. Serve as a country program resource and focal point for gender and social inclusion and co-facilitate the country program's gender working groups.
- Participate in program design process including assessments, learning events, and coordination meetings. Specifically, provide administrative and technical support on CP gender audit and gender assessments, and project gender analysis. The support also includes providing support in the developing and implementation of project gender action plans.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc technical reports as per the reporting calendar and as directed by the MEAL-PQ Program Manager and as required by other relevant stakeholders.
- Perform any other duties assigned by the program management.
Basic Qualifications: - University degree in Gender, Women Empowerment, Inclusive Programming, Project Management and / or related subjects.
- At least four (4) years of experience in gender programming. Understanding international donors’, World Bank and CRS gender guidelines and policies will be an added advantage.
- Demonstrated knowledge of international standards and codes of practices in the social accountability sector. Experience in working in GBV and SEA/SH is a significant advantage.
- Experience of working in a complex context like Sudan will be a plus.
- Experience in working in complex and large grant is a plus.
- Additional experience may substitute for some education.

Preferred Qualifications - Relevant technical and program management experience, especially for USG, the World Bank or other public donors, a plus.
- Confirmed collaboration and successful experience working with multi-disciplinary teams.
- Experience working with stakeholders at various levels and strengthening community partnerships.
- Cross-cutting knowledge of protection, gender, supply chain chains, and safeguarding.
- Experience analyzing data and contributing to evaluation reports.
- Experience in developing and conducting training in rural contexts with limited literacy.
- Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
