 Duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary:  

The Grants and Compliance Manager will oversee the financial and operational compliance of the Sudan Enhancing Community Resilience Project AFII, ensuring effective grant implementation in accordance with CRS and donor requirements. This role involves close coordination with donors, project teams, and implementing partners, with a strong focus on budget management, reporting, and risk mitigation. The manager will provide technical support and capacity strengthening to staff and partners to uphold high standards of accountability and transparency. 

 

Roles and Key Responsibilities:  

  • Lead the implementation of compliant grants management processes throughout the project lifecycle, from design to close-out. 
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations and CRS policies, and champion learning among project and partner staff. 
  • Oversee budget management, monitoring expenditure, and addressing budget gaps to ensure timely and efficient use of resources. 
  • Support and monitor partner organizations through capacity assessments and technical assistance to strengthen grants management. 
  • Coordinate preparation and submission of timely and accurate financial and narrative reports. 
  • Provide management information to inform decision-making and proactively mitigate risks. 
  • Maintain effective coordination with project, finance, and operations teams to ensure integrated support to the program. 

 

Basic Qualifications:  

Education and Experience  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Program Management, Finance, or related field. 
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant field-based experience in grants or project management, preferably with an international NGO. 
  • Demonstrated understanding of donor compliance requirements (e.g., USAID, EU, UN and World Bank). 
  • Proven experience in budgeting, financial reporting, and risk analysis. 
  • Additional experience may substitute for some education. 

 

Required Languages – English and Arabic 

 

Travel- Must be willing and able to travel up to 40% across project states 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (SKAs)  

  • Strong critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills with sound judgment. 
  • Excellent relationship management skills with ability to work with culturally diverse groups. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience drafting technical reports. 
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and customer-service oriented. 

 

Preferred Qualifications  

  • Professional certification in grants or project management is a plus. 
  • Experience working with partner organizations and local stakeholders. 
  • Familiarity with MS Office and grants management systems. 
  • Previous involvement in technical proposal development.
