SOS Children's Villages Sudan is seeking a qualified and experienced Finance Officer to be based in Khartoum to support the finance and administrative functions in alignment with organizational and donor standards.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

The Finance Officer will provide financial and administrative support to the national and field offices. This includes managing accounting processes such as accounts payable and receivable, reconciliations, and audit support. The Finance Officer ensures financial integrity, compliance with internal and donor policies, and accurate reporting to support effective decision-making.

  • Record accounts payable information using the SharePoint Procurement process flow.
  • Upload and maintain supporting financial documents and payment records.
  • Set up vendors, including banking information, and prepare cash disbursements.
  • Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial transactions in compliance with SOS CV and donor regulations.
  • Record daily cash receipts and import field office financial reports into the system.
  • Assist the Head of Finance / Finance coordinator with the preparation of client invoices.
  • Prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external audits.
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit readiness.
  • Work monthly with the program staff to review field reports and ensure alignment.
  • Perform other accounting duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Finance coordinator.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in an international NGO or donor-funded organization.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), donor regulations, and nonprofit financial procedures.
  • Experience in cooperative agreements, grants, sub-grants, and contract management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables and complex formulas), and familiarity with other MS Office applications.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
