SOS Children’s Villages Sudan is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Youth Program Officer (YPO) to support young people as they transition from adolescence to independent adulthood. Based in Kassala, the YPO plays a key role in mentorship, life skills development, and career guidance for youth in care, ensuring they grow into responsible, self-reliant individuals. This position involves close engagement with youth, families, caregivers, and community stakeholders.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Role Modeling & Mentorship
  • Serve as a positive role model and guide for youth transitioning into adulthood.
  • Live near or within the youth facility to maintain close contact, especially during evenings and weekends.
  • Foster independence while maintaining strong relationships with youth.
  • Administrative & Program Management
  • Handle documentation, financial administration, and reporting for the youth program.
  • Collaborate with the national office for program oversight and compliance.
  • Ensure proper management of youth facility assets and confidentiality of records.
  • Personal Development Guidance
  • Lead the Individual Development Plan (IDP) process for each youth.
  • Support transition planning from village care to youth homes and independent living.
  • Promote essential life skills including financial literacy and communication.
  • Family & Community Engagement
  • Encourage youth to maintain connections with their families and cultural roots.
  • Facilitate regular family visits and community participation.
  • Work with caregivers to ensure consistent support and strong relationships.
  • Education & Career Support
  • Motivate youth in academic and vocational pursuits.
  • Coordinate with schools and training centers to monitor progress.
  • Provide career counseling, job readiness support, and employment referrals.
  • Support to SOS Mothers & Village Life
  • Keep SOS mothers involved in youth-related decisions.
  • Encourage youth to participate in village life and family activities.
  • Promote collaboration between youth, caregivers, and program staff.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Education, or related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience working with youth in social care or development.
  • Proven skills in case management, budgeting, and administrative tasks.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience, especially with vulnerable youth.
  • Strong empathy and communication skills.
  • Ability to inspire, lead, and set a positive example.
  • Skilled in organization, crisis response, and problem-solving.
  • Culturally sensitive and inclusive approach.

Based in SOS Children’s Village – Kassala, with possible travel to other locations.
Requires flexibility, including evening and weekend availability.
Active engagement with youth, families, and community stakeholders.
