About SOS Sahel Program:
SOS Sahel Sudan Organization is a national, voluntary, humanitarian, development, and non-profit
organization working in various areas of humanitarian interventions in Sudan, the organization was
founded in 2010 as a policy of SOS Sahel UK to transform the organization to SOS Sahel Sudan for
securing more sustainability to the humanitarian interventions in Sudan.
SOS Sahel Sudan has a head office in Khartoum east, and it has main and sub - offices at the state and
locality levels in seven states in Sudan.

SOS Sahel teams work in partnership with key stakeholders and local government under formal
protocols which maximize resources and enhance multi-stakeholder coordination mechanisms.
The primary purpose of the establishment of SOS Sahel Sudan is to fight against poverty through
activities centered on natural resource management, and all program designs will place target at their
Centre, ensuring that save and collaborative natural resources management are met
Purpose of the Position:
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall implementation, both programmatic and financial
and oversight of all the WASH project and other potential projects at Kassala state. The Project Manager
will supervise the programme and support staff and will be responsible to ensure that projects activities
are implemented with high quality within the indicated time frames and allocated budget. The Project

Manager will work closely with the Head of programs and projects staff as well as with partners and
stakeholders in Kassala state to ensure timely delivery of program commitments, reporting as per grant
requirement and program development for expansion and new initiatives.
The Project Manager will manage the all the projects of the emergency WASH intervention in Kassala to
achieve its objectives. This project will increase households' access to clean water, adequate sanitation
facilities, and hygiene promotion services. Concerning HRP Outcome 1, the program aligns with the
WASH sector's priority to provide immediate, early, and short-term responses to address contextspecific
WASH needs for vulnerable communities (IDPs, returnees, and affected host communities). The
proposed intervention will address the reduction of morbidity and mortality of water-related diseases
among vulnerable communities in target locations and this will be achieved through the water,
sanitation and hygiene promotion activities. The project targeted 149,000 people in four localities of
Kassala, Khashm Algirba, Gharb Kassala and Halfa Elgadida.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Overall day to day mange, Supervises and supports Kassala state project staff to implement
project activities as per endorsed plans, budgets and timelines.
Ensure the relevancy development of work plans
Ensures that implementation strategies are context sensitive, in line with international
humanitarian standards, adhering to donor’s commitments and requirements, inclusive,
empowering and sustainable.
In collaboration with project staff establishes and maintains effective planning, implementation,
communication, assessment, monitoring, evaluation and feedback systems.
Support the preparation and processes project Technical Agreements, counterparts and
stakeholders with the support of concerned entities.
Identifies, assess, monitors performance of and coaches staff and prepares relevant support
preparing MoUs when required
Defines and requests support needed from SOS Sahel head office.
Supports the development of new initiatives and program expansion.
Ensures that effective and efficient financial, admin and logistical procedures / systems are
established and followed by project staff, partners and other project stakeholders.
Monitors implementation of grant budgets and facilitates revisions as deems necessary.
Prepares and submits reports on progress, challenges, best practices and lessons learned, etc., as
per agreed schedules, formats and timelines.
Ensures that project staff and partners are aware of SOS Sahel Sudan mandate, principles,
implementation strategy, code of conduct, complaints and accountability mechanisms, etc., and
that they encouraged and supported to practice them.
Ensures that staffing plans for the project, hiring procedures, orientation to staff, staff appraisal
and development opportunities are genuine and in harmony with the labor and other related
laws.
Represents SOS Sahel Sudan in meetings, forums, working groups, events, processes, etc., as
advised by the supervisor.
Organizes and facilitates meetings, focused groups, reviews and other forums with partners,
government counterparts, CBOs and other stakeholders to improve implementation, coordination
and sharing of information and skills.
Coaches, trains and provides technical support to staff and partners in fields of expertise.
Contribute to the overall planning, management and development of SOS Sahel country program.

Ensure participation of SOS Sahel in the livelihood, WASH, Health and other relevant sectors at
the target state
Conduct continuous and end year appraisal for the project staff and submit to Head of programs
Timely Prepare donor reports using the approval format and submit to Head of programs
Reviewing monitoring reports to assess interim impacts and identify causes of potential
bottlenecks in implementation and provide appropriate solutions.
Structurally reported to Head of programs
In all project interventions, follow do no harm' principles
Ensure that lessons learned and research around FSL, WASH, peace etc. programs quality is
carried out and used for program quality improvement in the target projects
Propose and/or undertake action on operational procedures affecting project management and
implementation for the target projects
Any other tasks or responsibilities based on organizational and programming needs as assigned by
the DG and Head of programs
Liaison
 Foster, develop and maintain strong partnership relationships and regular contact with national and
international NGOs, UN agencies specially OCHA, government officials, and other stakeholders working
in the field of FSL and NRM services
 Represent SOS Sahel externally in the project areas as required, including but not limited to
UN/NGO/donor meetings, joint agency assessments and task force meetings in the sector
 Foster, develop and maintain partnership relationships with national partners and communities to
assess the effectiveness of current projects and to identify possibilities for new projects
 Assist DG and Head of Programs as needed regarding Kassala program issues
 Ensure that SOS Sahel policies and procedures are adhered to the target projects adequately
Human Resources
 Promote positive team environment between various ethnicities and local project staff at the project
area
 Facilitate dialogue and group decision making where appropriate.
 Ensure mentoring and coaching for performance of project staff is undertaken for direct reports.
 Ensure project staff are trained to the appropriate national and international standards
 Supervise consultants or volunteers as required concerning the project activities
Other Tasks and Responsibilities
 Advises and supports project and partner staff to collaborate, coordinate and use their expertise, time
and resources effectively to achieve project targets.
 Trains and coaches project staff to fill gaps in the capacity of local partners and improve their
performance.
 Responsible for reporting and supporting SOS Sahel Sudan colleagues in tasks related to report writing,
project development, M&E, and project-management related matters.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualification
 Minimum 5 years of experience in coordinating similar projects at the state level
 BSc level in the relevant specializes of Water, civil, chemical, geology engineering or any other
relevant specializes with proving of management competent.
 Fluency in English and Arabic (reading, writing, speaking).
 Ability to set targets and objectives for staff and local partners, and being able to report on
these objectives periodically.
 Excellent communication skills, approachable, good listener, easy to talk to.
 knowledge on M&E
