 Background:

WHO WE ARE

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

 

THE PURPOSE

 

Protection of Family Links Field Officer (PFL) Field Officer deals with the calls and WhatsApp messages of the RFL hotline and handles requests according to the working criteria and supports in the management of the STM messages, when required. S/He works under the direct supervision of the PFL External Communication Manager and provides support to the Protection department S/He is based in Port Sudan delegation.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Receives calls and WhatsApp messages on the RFL hotline. 
  • When required, supports with the collection, and follow up of Tracing Request (TC), Allegation of Arrest (AoA), Allegation of Detention (AoD) and the registration of Unaccompanied Minors (UAM), Separated Children (SC) and Vulnerable Adults (VA), under the supervision of the line manager.
  • When more senior Protection of Family Links Field Officer are not available, receives visitors and ensures that visits are appropriately followed up and receive a timely response.
  • Reports to the Line Manager information collected during the interaction with beneficiaries/visitors to contribute to the analyses of the security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment in which the ICRC is working, shares relevant information with team members and reports any changes in the situation. 
  • Fosters a constructive working environment (multidisciplinary approach, good team dynamics) among team members.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • High school qualifications, vocational training or professional diploma.
  • Typically, 2-3 years of professional experience overall
  • Experience as a social worker or call operator or in a similar field an asset.
  • Good knowledge of spoken and written English and Arabic
  • Computer skills.
  • Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Teamwork & Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
