Background: The Gender and Protection Officer contributes to the implementation and monitoring of Action Against Hunger Gender and Protection activities across various programs and projects, Under the guidance of the supervision of Gender and Protection Manager and the Head of Bases in operational areas. the officer is responsible for, supporting and implementing activities related to the mainstreaming of Gender and Protection. This includes the documentation and analysis of protection risks, as well as maintaining close coordination with GBV and Protection clusters, line ministries, and national partners. Additionally, the officer ensures the timely submission of high-quality reports that detail the achievement of project objectives and targets.

Duties and responsibilities:
Objective 1: Project management and implementation - Support designing and integrating gender and protection-responsive interventions across technical areas for gender and protection activities in coordination with gender and protection manager.
- Support timely implementation of the planned gender and protection activities according to the agreed proposal and AAH and donor guidelines and policies.
- Undertake regular field visits to monitor the quality of implementation, provide technical advice, to health care workers, with a focus on Reproductive health staff, mental health staff, and community health workers, community volunteers and Community Based Protection Network members regarding awareness raising, safe referral and conduct sensitization and orientation session to enhance quality of mainstreaming gender and protection.
Objective 2: Technical support and link with other Action Against Hunger departments and stakeholders - Function as the focal person and lead coordination with other stakeholders/partners on gender and protection issues at state level.
- Ensure and maintain the working relationship with the line ministries, local and partners(LGUs,stakeholders) consortium team/members
- Participate in meetings with the relevant stakeholders and represent Action Against Hunger at state level /cluster and other relevant meeting in coordination with the gender and protection manager.
- Support in the proposal development process by providing field-specific context analysis, technical sector-specific analysis, beneficiary information,
- Engage the community leaders and local leaders to support women in undertaking leadership roles through women participation and leadership activities and gender dialogues.
- Ensure the involvement of line ministries in all project protection and gender activities and build their sense of ownership.
Objective 3: monitoring and reporting - Prepare and submit activities progress reports and other reports as requested by line and technical manager following the agreed format.
- Adhere to the Mission Reporting system and submit the reports requested on time
Objective 4: dedication of 15% of the time to serve as the Safeguarding Focal Point, as outlined below. - Support Action Against Hunger Safeguarding Department efforts in protecting individuals, including children, vulnerable adults, and women—especially pregnant and lactating women—and other at-risk groups from harm, abuse, exploitation, and neglect by promoting safeguarding policies and procedures.
- Ensure the organization's activities align with legal and ethical standards and offer guidance and support to staff, associated personnel, partners, and community on safeguarding matters.
- Ensured safeguarding-related complaints, whether received personally or through the field CFM mechanisms, are documented and handled effectively and confidentially, while also providing appropriate support to victims throughout the case management process to ensure their protection and access to necessary services.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Gender, Psychology, Social Work, International Relations, Law, Politics, Sociology or any other relevant field or related degree.
- Knowledge and experience in implementing/ managing/mainstreaming gender and protection integration in humanitarian and development projects/programs in line with existing law/protocol and guidelines
- Strong coordination and communication skills
- Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience At least 2 years of humanitarian/development experience, with experience in Gender and Protection programming
- knowledge about Gender based violence minimum standards, case management, mental health services psychological first Aid, IASC guidelines integrating gender-based violence interventions in humanitarian action, IASC the Gender handbook for humanitarian action ,IASC policy protection in humanitarian action ,IASC guidelines inclusion of persons with disabilities in humanitarian action.
- Strong coordination and communication skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Word Excel, Power Point and Outlook
- Strong skills in research methods and data analysis

Remuneration Package - Contract period: Based on the Project duration on Action Against Hunger fund and performances.
- Salary/benefits: According to Action Against Hunger's salary scale and terms and conditions for Officer level 1000 to 1155 $
