 Background:

The Accountability Officer advises project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting and monitors all project related activities and guides project staff on gender, protection and accountability matters. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure accountability in all stages of project implementation and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with all projects related activities with accountability and safeguarding guidelines of Welthungerhilfe and donor.
  • In close cooperation with the MEAL Coordinator, establish and monitor an accessible and inclusive Accountability and Protection mechanisms for all projects related activities in close coordination with the M&E unit, and field officers.
  • Support WHH to mitigate protection, sexual and accountability related risks across its projects in Kassala state.
  • Train WHH staff, and its NGO partners on PSEA risks increasing their capacity to fulfil WHH operational standards and expectations on PSEA.
  • Ensure Inclusivity through formation and representation of community-based organizations with a special emphasis on the representation of all vulnerable groups.
  • Conduct community mobilization and facilitate coordination and dialogue with communities and other relevant stakeholders to enhance Accountability to Affected People (AAP).
  • Keep close contact and good working relationships with the partners, local authorities, government stakeholders and target groups and communities.
  • Collect necessary project data in close coordination with the M&E unit for reporting and monitoring purposes with a special emphasis on Accountability and Safeguarding.
  • Sensitize WHH staff, its NGO partners’ staff and targeted communities on WHH’s Code of Conduct.
  • Take lead in promoting WHH’s Accountability Framework among WHH staff, partners and program participants.
  • Ensure visibility of PSEA commitments and expectations in WHH offices in Sudan through the development and implementation of relevant communication materials (e.g., signage, posters, roll-ups, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate record of PSEA cases resolved or unresolved
  • Implement and monitor WHH Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for all protection/FCRM/solutions activities.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education: A University degree in International Development, Gender Studies, Human Rights, Political or Social Sciences, or another related field.


Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a similar position in INGOs and NGOs. 

Experience of undertaking gender equality, women’s empowerment and gender-based violence, conflict-sensitive programming, and humanitarian principles into humanitarian assistance.
