 Background:

The accountant is under the direct responsibility of the Head of Finance (HOF). He/she ensures the proper daily accounting management of the base and the other bases under functional supervision in compliance with QRCS procedures and the Sudanese legal framework. He/she supports the Head of Finance (HOF) in the definition and implementation of financial, accounting, procedures and is one of the guarantors of the proper application of these procedures on the mission. He/she provides support to the Head of Finance (HOF) in all matters related to taxes, duties, and other legal and statutory aspects and assists them in all accounting matters.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform daily bank payments & ensuring all payments are made in compliance with QRCS’s & donors’ policies & procedures. Payments should be supported with adequate supporting documents before submission for review of CA & validation of HoF & HoO. 
  • Responsible for all bank payments data entry of all expenditure & income.
  • Prepare all payment vouchers & ensure accounting dimensions are accurately added.
  • Ensuring that all the vouchers & supporting documents are properly organized & filed, & that they are in compliance with internal audit requirements.
  • Enter the daily transactions into the Accounting System. 
  • Assisting the HoF with the preparation & collation of new & planned budgets into Budget system.
  • Assist HoF in Month End & Year End closing procedures.
  • Advising the HoF of any operational problems or discrepancies relating to the financial management of the projects.
  • To ensure that an adequate level of cash flow is maintained in consultation with the budget holders of each project.
  • Preparing advances & settlements of advances, as well as keeping & updating the control records of all outstanding advances.
  • Assisting project staff in providing proper project/account codes.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all payments are made on time.
  • Produce regular\irregular reports & circulated to HoF.
  • Assist Budget holders in preparation of financial reports & printing all required expense reports.
  • Contribute in performing financial monitoring visits to current partners, review supporting documents to financial reports & prepare a visit report for comments & recommendation.
  • Maintain the filing system of Bank financial records.
  • Maintain the filling system for partners financial reporting.
  • Support budget holders in expenditure analysis.
  • Other duties as required within the job purpose.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor degree in Finance/Accounting.
  • Recommended a minimum of 2 + years in accounting & projects financial management experience in an INGO environment, including experience in different donor’s policies & procedures specially QFFD of Qatar.
  • Comfort & experience with using financial analysis techniques using Excel/ data base connectivity & tools for managing data.
  • Previous experience with ERP systems as an asset.
  • Ability to plan & organize a workload that includes diverse tasks & responsibilities.
  • Good oral & written communication skills in English & Arabic
  • Ability to submit a timely & accurately reports & data.
  • Good communication skills & ability to support & deal with different staff member from different functions, donors & partners.
