 Duties and responsibilities:

General responsibility:

Under the supervision of the Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Manager, the FSL Officer is responsible for the good running of FSL activities (provide food vouchers, nutrition-sensitive kitchen gardening, small business grants, and backyard poultry) at field level within his/her team according to the FSL planning. This Project will aim to enhance access to nutritious food and sustainable income-generating activities for Host and IDP HH having PLW and 0-23-month children, pregnant and lactating women (PLWs) in Central Darfur State through provide food vouchers, nutrition-sensitive kitchen gardening, small business grants and backyard poultry to vulnerable and conflict-affected IDPs and host communities. The project will target households (HHs) affected by the conflict. In the course of undertaking his/her tasks, FSL project officer shall work with professionalism and honesty, and shall commit himself/herself to TGH principles as well as humanitarian principles.

 

  1. Responsibilities and related tasks:
  • Support in the planning, implementation, monitoring, follow up and reporting of FSL activities in area of intervention with the support of the Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Manager.

 

  1. Management and monitoring of FSL activities at field level
  • Participate in developing of monitoring tools for FSL programming.
  • Develop the activity plan (daily, weekly and monthly).
  • With the FSL Manager she/he maintain effective feedback mechanism and ensure that beneficiary complaints are well documented and presented to the FSL manager.
  • Support the in-beneficiary selection criteria and registration.
  • Support in the implementation of the Rapid market Assessment.
  • Support in organising the food vouchers distributions.
  • In coordination with the MEAL team, participate in Post Distribution Monitoring.
  • Able to capture and present success stories, quality project photos and lesson learnt.

 

  1. Team Management
  • Organize and follow up for the pending activities.
  • Directly manage the Livestock and Agriculture technicians.
  • Support the FSL manager in validating technically activities and reporting docs.
  • Fill-in for the FSL manager in case of absence.
  • Ensure proper documentation of project related documents.

  • Participate in TGH internal/representative meetings.
  • Ensure good implementation of the planned project activities.
  • Attend coordination meetings with external partners, localities and/or HAC at base level and share the outcome of the meetings with FSL Manager.
  • Support the Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) Manager in attending meeting with community leaders (Sheikhs, Sheikhas) periodically to ensure that our intervention is transparent to the stakeholders.
  • Liaise with local authorities and NGOs in the field for clear service delivery to the targeted beneficiaries. 
  • Follow-up requests and deliveries of inputs/materials required for Food security and livelihood activities, in coordination with logistic team and ensure that all the material/inputs needed is available at the project site before the start of project activity.
  • Support in the voucher redemption process with FSL manager.
  • Writing report and detailing best practices and lessons learned following activity implemented.
  • Ensure timely submission of implemented activities reports, assessments, and weekly/monthly follow-up reports to the FSL manager and ensure the accuracy and timeliness of the reporting;
  • Able to perform any other tasks as instructed by the line managers.
  • Able to take quality reporting pictures during the activity’s delivery.

 

  1. Personal and staff capacity building
  • Participate actively in the training courses recommended by TGH, and share new skills and knowledge with his/ her team or colleagues.
  • Taking supervision and training to enable staffs he supervises to take on greater role in the performance of their tasks throughout the programme.

 

  1. PSEA & Safeguarding:
  • Contribute to ensuring that staff she/he supervise respect the PSEA and Child Safeguarding guidelines.
  • Promptly and confidentially report any concerns about violations of TGH PSEA and Child Safeguarding Policies to the relevant focal points and or his line manager.

 

Any other tasks assigned by the line or the base manager based on TGH project needs.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

 

  1. Required knowledge and skills
  • BSc in agriculture and or relevant fields. 
  • Minimum of 1-year practical experience implementing food security and livelihood related activities with INGOs and or UN Agencies.
  • Good interpersonal communication skill and ability to effectively liaise with government, community leaders and other stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent analytical and self-motivation skills, able to think critically and proven problem solving.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook);
  • Written and spoken Arabic and English (advanced level) compulsory;
  • Flexibility and ability to supervise and support the team.
  • Able to develop daily, weekly and monthly work plans.
  • Good communication and reporting skills.
