 Background:

WHO WE ARE

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

 

THE PURPOSE

 

The Administrative Assistant is in charge of preparing, reconciling and analysing the accounting records and financial reports of Kadugli office. In addition, s/he is responsible for administrative tasks related to Welcome, assisting the local management to support the activities under the guidance of the

Senior Administrative Assistant.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensures accuracy and completeness of accounting transactions in accordance with financial procedures. 
  • Helps ensure that operations run smoothly through efficient cash-flow management, covering the fund needs of the structure.
  • Keeps files up to date at all times and guarantees proper filing of relevant supporting documents for future reference, including audits.
  • Performs regular integrity checks of accounting.
  • Participates in monthly closing activities and is responsible for part of them.
  • Provides support to other departments and responds to semi-routine and non-standard inquiries when necessary.
  • Identifies anomalies or other issues and proposes solutions to his/her supervisor.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • University degree in Business Administration and finances. Accounting and Economics
  • Additional vocational training in accounting, bookkeeping, or similar fields.
  • 1-2 years of experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, bank industry, administration or similar position.
  • Very good command of English, spoken and written.
  • Expert level in computer skills
  • Experience of international organizations an asset.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting software.
  • Proficiency in Administrative management, Problem solving, Communication, Service delivery, Office tools mastery, Planning and Organizing
  • Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Teamwork & Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
