 Background:

Sudanese Red Crescent (SRCS) is one of the biggest National Organizations operating in different part of Sudan.  Acting as an auxiliary to national authorities, SRCS support MOH at federal and state level to improve access and quality of health services to the most vulnerable communities. SRCS as one of International Federation and its member National Societies for more than 51 years and is mainly operating in rural areas where humanitarian actors are either scarce or completely absent due to access and security issues, in all our area of intervention. SRCS support is more needed during times of disasters and epidemics, these services include food, health, water and sanitation, communication and other relief assistances, a lot of commodities are needed to facilitate this service provision and support to MOH.  Major component of these commodities are either medical supplies or health related goods that need specialised personnel to improve management. 

 

JOB SUMMARY

The primary function of the medical supply officer, will conduct assessment of need of medical supplies including medicines, consumables and equipment in consultation with FMOH and SMOH, he/she will assume responsibility of pre-shipment clearance of all medical supply from the relevant authorities , procurement, transportation and storge of medical supplies including cold chain if needed. He/she supported by the warehouse staff will produce a monthly report.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, the supply medical officer must be able to perform each essential function 

  • Prepare detailed work plan and budget plan for medical supply activities and ensure implementation of planned activities according to the work plan adhering to the budget according to SRCS standards and oversee program spending per budgets and pipelines
  • Support and motivate program/logistics/ administrative/finance staff in issues related to medical supply the field, by ensuring appropriate training or orientation, coaching and supervision.
  • Prepare, implement, and oversee SOBs for supply chain during all steps.
  • Coordinate very closely with all relevant bodies and departments to ensure that there is no break in supply chain.
  • Coordinate well with health department on technical issues related to medical supplies

Program Implementation and Development

  • Support medical programs, projects development by identifying need and cost the medical supplies.
  • Plan and conduct assessments with branches to study capacity of branches and available supplies and management processes.
  • Ensure strong linkage with all relevant authorities.
  • Ensure proper functioning of medical warehousing and reporting systems 
  • Oversight of SRCS staff across the branches, provide technical support and direct supervision of staff in relation to medical supplies.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate quality assurance measures and ensure appropriate follow up.
  • Prepare and provide regular monthly reports in coordination with the M&E department, logistic and warehouse staff
  • Perform other duties as assigned by line mangers.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 4 or more years of experience in pharmacy.
  • Experience on budget and administration logistics and Human Resources management
  • Ability to cope with stress; hardship; patience and flexibility and willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively with government, international/national organizations, donors, partners and other SRCS relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English and Arabic 
  • . Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office, and other computer applications 
  • Ability to read, analyse and interpret data 
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work in areas where support is needed.
