Duties and responsibilities:
Planning and Implementation of CMAM & IYCF activities - Lead/support in the planning, quantification and selection of nutrition services sites establishment, and operations.
- Support and supervise the CMAM teams at the nutrition services sites including SC staff (PHC\MMT)
- Support and supervise the IYCF teams at the IYCF corners and MSGs.
- Ensure nutrition clinics and community outreach activities are carried out as per facility work plans with emphasis on integration with medical services.
- Ensure malnutrition case screening and growth monitoring is carried out and appropriate corrective actions implemented.
- Support the Nutrition Manager in offering technical support to facility staff and community-based teams on the management of acute malnutrition
- Documents management records on activities under nutrition services; Consolidate data from Nutritionists to prepare reports as per schedule and make data-driven program decisions.
- Ensure all beneficiaries (Children and PLW) in the CMAM programme receive care and treatment in accordance with MoH Guidelines, including proper taking of anthropometric measurements and proper referral and receive food/treatment according to the agreed protocol.
- Supervise nutrition assistants at nutrition services sites on weekly basis and SC staff on daily basis.
- Facilitate and organize referral of sick children to the stabilization center and ensure effective follow up of these children.
- Organize the implementation of follow-up protocols requiring community outreach.
- Identify community leaders who will work closely with the program at the village.
- Assist the community Nutrition workers implementing nutrition activities and reporting.
- Ensure proper management of supplies, monitor and report on the stock levels.
- Coordinate regular community screening of children under five, Pregnant and Lactating Women with Nutrition Assistants, CNVs and Midwives, as well as ensure recording and reporting of community mobilization and nutrition mass screening activities
- Mentor and supervise the nutrition activities through a regular supervision visit to ensure the quality of activities implementation.
Capacity building of CNWs, Community Based Distributors and Community Volunteers - Identify needs, plan, organize and implement training (including development of training curriculum and tools for nutrition training), on CMAM, IYCF, MSGS, Inpatient care management etc.… for IYCF councilors, nutrition assistants, SC staff and community volunteers on CMAM,
- Liaise with locality nutrition officers and other partner in coordinating and selecting participants for trainings,
- Liaise with locality nutrition officers and other partners in ensuring that CMAM and other nutrition activities are implemented as per the national protocol,
- Maintain a data base/report of the trained and active health workers, CNWs & community Volunteers in the community.
- Lead/support evaluation of the outcomes of the trainings as well as documentation and reporting,
- Planning, coordination and implementation of mass MUAC screening activities at field level.
Recording and Reporting - Follow and ensure proper registration and admission/discharge of CMAM patients including ongoing monitoring on patients.
- Documentation and reporting of community mobilization and nutrition mass screening activities,
- Collation, analysis and reporting of other existing surveillance data
- Prepare weekly activity reports and contribute to Monthly, Quarterly and annual progress and performance reports to the Nutrition Program Manager,
- Ensure the documentation and reporting of the supervision visits and regular meetings with the nutrition assistants and community health workers.
- Document and share success stories, case studies and lessons learnt in a comprehensive and detailed manner to enable track trends on changes on a timely basis
- Compile activity reports including weekly screening data and Monthly reports.
- Work closely with Clinic leads, Community health team, HIS Officers and MEAL Officers to ensure quality data reports.
Coordination and Collaboration - Support and collaborate with the Health Officers, SBCC Officers, Nutrition Officers, Community Health officers, accountability team and Clinic leads etc. in carrying out community based nutritional promotional activities targeting community groups.
- Support implementation of nutrition promotion activities, community outreach, and facility based nutrition education focusing on IYCF, growth monitoring and maternal nutrition, dissemination of IEC materials.
- Liaise and establish strong links with existing community structures including women groups, community development committees, youth groups and religious leaders.
- Ensure the coordination, referral, and linkage of cases across different partners and/or across CMAM components.
- Maintain the full represents of at different partners and community level.
- Attend community sensitization, program review and feedback meetings.
Safeguarding - Ensure the Safeguarding of program participants and employees through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, Child & Vulnerable Adult protection, and harassment-free workplace policies.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
EDUCATION, LICENSES, & CERTIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree in human nutrition, Dietetics or related field is required.
- Post graduate in nutrition or related qualification is added advantage.
- Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience of at least 2 years is added advantage.
EXPERIENCE - Minimum 2 years of nutrition field experience with a busy project implementing CMAM is required
- Experience in Stabilization Center or community health is an added advantage.
- Experience working in emergency operations is an added advantage Experience in CMAM, IYCF-E, SBCC.
- Experience with UN-programming especially UNICEF & WFP.
- Trained in CMAM and IYCF, including management of SAM with medical complications.
- Experience working with community mobilization and integrated interventions.
- Ability to build capacity of nutrition staff in the OTP, TSFP and SC management.
KNOWLEDGE - Extensive knowledge of nutrition principles and management of acute malnutrition
SKILLS - Skilled in coordinating staff and community members to deliver health education sessions and nutritional screening activities
- Skilled in conducting nutritional assessments and managing cases
- Skilled in presenting complex information at an appropriate level to an individual or group
- Skilled in using behaviour change strategies to mobilize community members to take ownership of healthcare needs.
- Skilled in data analysis and report writing
- Skilled at using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- A good command of both written and spoken English
