 Duties and responsibilities:

Job summary

The Community Health Supervisors  is responsible for the oversight of community health activities in his/her area of assignment through technical supervision, and coordination with relevant authorities and community members. These will include creating awareness through community health education, home visits, Referral to health facilities, Community screening and surveillance duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervision

  • Ensure timely conduct of planned community -based activities within his/her area of assignment. 
  • Ensure that all community health workers in his area of assignment and health facilities contribute to RI program objectives.
  • Schedule field visits for monitoring and supervision to ensure quality of community-based services, accurate data collection and verification of submitted reports in coordination with his/her supervisor.
  • Provides feedback to his technical supervisor with regard to changes in context to ensure that program implementation remains responsive to the needs of the beneficiaries.
  • Support the CHVs at community level, collect monthly reports, and train them if needed.
  • Follow and submit timely report as well as corrective measure of project.
  • Supervise community health worker's training and performance.
  • Conducting refreshing course for CHWs once in a month.
  • Make Monthly Activity Report (MAR) with CHWs and Monthly Activity Aggregated Report (MAAR).

Representation 

 Provide documented feedback to his/her supervisor on meetings attended.

  • Reporting .
  • Ensure that data collected from community health worker are in line with RI internal system as well as comply with donor expectations.
  • Regularly collect, consolidate and summarize CHW reports using data collected.
  • Technical Oversight.
  • Work with community health worker to ensure that services such as house-to-house visits, ICCM and CMAM are in accordance to MOH and WHO standards and guidelines. 

 

Coordination

  • Coordinate   with community health worker and his/her supervisor and with other program departments to ensure integrated implementation of services.

Training 

  • Work with community health worker and supervisor to determine training needs 
  • Support the conduct regular training activities .
  • Contribute to training plans and coordinate with his/her supervisor to ensure timely preparation for needed resources.
  • Attend relevant trainings relevant to his/her position.
  • Conducting refreshing course for CHWs once in a month.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

WORKING CONTACTS

Internal: All RI Sudan staff but especially field staff, Health and Nutrition Manager, Area Manager, Nutrition, WASH and Health Technical Coordinator, and other sector coordinators.

 

External: Local level government, local and international NGOs, and UN Agencies in both field locations and at the state level.

 

EducationMinimumBachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, Healthcare, or related field. Three (3) years of relevant community health worker, community outreach, or health education experience may be considered in lieu of degree

 

Preferred

 

 

Work ExperienceMinimum

• Two (2) years of experience in a supervisory role

• Three (3) years of experience in community outreach, health education, or in a role representing or supporting local community agencies

Preferred

• One (1) year of progressive leadership experience relevant to a Population Health role.

• Two (2) years of prior experience working in a Community Health Worker or Social Work model.

• Five (5) years of experience in community outreach, health education, or in a role representing or supporting local community agencies.

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting.

 

Licenses & CertificationsMinimum 
PreferredCommunity Health Worker Certification or training

• Work history demonstrating increasing levels of supervisory responsibility.

• Ability to communicate effectively with and relate to individuals from various economic, social, and cultural backgrounds.

• Willingness to approach problem solving with a creative approach.

• Computer skills and ability to navigate databases and software programs for patient documentation and tracking.
