ROLE PURPOSE: 

Relief International is seeking to recruit a qualified, flexible and enthusiastic professional to work in the CFS sites as a PSS Team Leader. Under supervision of the Protection Officer and in close coordination with other RI’s field teams, the PSS Team Leader will support the implementation of all PSS/CFS activities. (S)he will coordinate the PSS response in the RI sites with CFS presence, develop and maintain good relations with the targeted project participants/communities, relevant stakeholders and other humanitarian actors, if needed, to support adequate implementation and coordination of RI’s PSS activities.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Internal coordination of the PSS team and in close collaboration with the Protection Officer.
  • Capacity building of PSS facilitators
  • Lead, support and supervise in organizing activities in Child Friendly Spaces and other friendly spaces if needed.
  • Ensure attendance sheets, headcount sheets and any required CFS reporting is followed up and timely completed.
  • Ensure timely and sound implementation of PSS activities in relevant sites.
  • Work closely and supervise implementation of parenting programs for caregivers
  • Ensure that attendance and participation of children in CFS in all sites is supported, motivated and that children are consulted for activities run by the PSS team.
  • Provide technical support, supervision and guidance to the PSS team at the field level (incl. development of technical tools and guidance, tailored capacity building plans, trainings and on-the-job coaching and mentoring) in coordination with the Protection Officer.
  • Contribute to preparing sound work-plans for PSS teams in the field.
  • Monitor that CFSs in all sites are well maintained, friendly to children and according to child safeguarding standards.
  • Regularly review and adapt CFS activities according to needs; identify vulnerable children and facilitate appropriate action, including referrals to specialized services.
  • Ensure that CFS team adhere to general protection, child protection and child safeguarding best-practices and professional standards and principles through capacity-building and on-the-job support.
  • Document case studies, best practices and lessons learned from each of the activities implemented.
  • Receive reports of cases from community-based child protection networks (CBCPN), Child Protection Help Desks (CPHD), children clubs etc. and give feedbacks as necessary.
  • Plan and conduct awareness raising sessions on prevention and in response to various child protection concerns.
  • Conduct monthly regular meetings with community groups and stakeholders to monitor progress and ensure smooth running of PSS activities.
  • Any other duties as may be assigned by the Protection Manager, relevant to the achievement of protection objectives.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum Diploma in counselling, education, psychology, child therapy, social sciences, social work, community development or any other PSS related training 
  • At least 3 years of experience working with children in humanitarian or development settings, including experience managing CFS programs.
  • Experience working with children who have experienced trauma or stress, including experience providing emotional support and counseling.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, including the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English.
  • Must have worked in the project area for at least 2 years in similar or other roles within Child protection program.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to prioritize tasks.
