Job Summary:

The GBV Awareness and Prevention Supervisor will oversee the implementation of GBV risk mitigation and prevention activities. The role involves working closely with the GBV response team, local partners, community stakeholders, and government focal points. Responsibilities include community mobilization, awareness-raising, capacity building, ensuring compliance with safety and ethical standards, and supporting project management, monitoring, reporting, and coordination efforts



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collaboration and Planning: Work with staff, local partners, and community stakeholders to plan GBV prevention and mitigation interventions.
  • GBV Assessments: Support GBV assessments and ensure compliance with safety and ethical standards.
  • GBV Prevention and Risk Mitigation: Coordinate with local partners, government focal points, and community networks to develop GBV prevention strategies.
  • Support Program Implementation: Work on a holistic GBV program in and around Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS), targeting GBV survivors or those at risk.
  • Development of Resources: Develop essential GBV tools, materials, and PSS activities for women and girls.
  • Lead Case Reviews: Lead case review meetings and ensure survivor-centered support.
  • Supervision and Team Management: Oversee GBV activities in WGSS, confidential centers, and trauma centers, ensuring team performance and regular follow-ups.
  • Training: Provide internal training for staff involved in GBV prevention and response activities.
  • Promote PSEA Principles: Uphold and support PSEA training and reporting mechanisms.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with community members and stakeholders to strengthen GBV prevention activities.
  • Monitoring and Documentation: Monitor and document activities, mobilize stakeholders, and promote understanding of GBV concepts.
  • Impact Measurement: Work with M&E colleagues to assess program impact and adjust activities.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on activities, ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

Representation and Coordination:

  • External Representation: Represent RI at sector working groups and other relevant meetings, ensuring RI’s mandate is communicated to stakeholders.
  • Coordination: Proactively liaise with local officials, community representatives, UN agencies, and other stakeholders.

Logistics and Safeguarding:

  • Logistics Coordination: Liaise with relevant departments to ensure that GBV and Protection-related items are properly managed.
  • Safeguarding Commitment: Uphold RI’s commitment to safeguarding and ensuring the safety of vulnerable communities.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications:

  • Education: University degree in gender studies, social sciences, law, social work, international development, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in GBV prevention and/or response activities in a humanitarian setting.
  • Skills: Strong knowledge of GBV principles and protection standards, excellent communication and advocacy skills, experience in training and facilitation.
  • Experience Working with Survivors: Experience providing support to GBV survivors.

Language: Fluency in written and spoken English and Arabic
