 Background:

  • To start up and manage Health and nutrition activities in the cholera response Program locality, including designing, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and training of local health workers.  To conduct assessments, and liaise with government and NGOs aiming to ensure that World Visions Health and Nutritional programs in the locality meet the needs of populations efficiently and adequately.

 

  • The position is responsible for the day-to-day running of the project activities in the locality of choice. The holder deputizes the Health and Nutrition Coordinator in ensuring successful support to SMoH and other stakeholders in implementing primary healthcare activities. In liaison with the Health & Nutrition Sector ensure project implementation is in line with the work plan and the budget. The State MoH provides additional roles to this person.


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and set up health and nutrition and supervise local staff to implement cholera response project Project in the assigned locality.
  • Establish and maintain standards for health programs and ensure that project staff, partner agencies and recipient communities understand and adhere to these standards.
  • Assist in preparation of DIP, cash flow, procurement plan, M&E plan and ITT to ease the implementation process.
  • Identify areas where CTC(Isolation centre, RRT and chlorination of water from house to house interventions are appropriate, and the resources required to provide them, at each site.
  • Provide specialized input into the planning and implementation of all health and Nutrition interventions to be carried out.
  • Support in undertake assessment and survey in a timely manner
  • Identify health and nutrition problems associated with the nutritional status of children at World Vision sites and assist in developing appropriate responses to address these problems.
  • Submit different for health and nutrition activities in a timely manner.
  • Provide nutrition technical support to World Vision non-health projects.
  • Work closely with implementing national partners to achieve an excellent project result.

  • Share in proposal writing for program funding and oversee budget preparation and on-going budget management.
  • Assure strict budget management and adherence to activity timelines to ensure proper accountability to donors and effective project implementation.

  • Support the health and nutrition coordinator to implement technical and managerial evaluations 
  • Build the capacity of seconded staff in project design and management, proposal/report writing, budgeting, monitoring and evaluating
  • Attend and participate in spiritual nurture meetings/devotions as scheduled and participate in spiritual nurture meetings/devotions as scheduled.

  • Work closely with M & E department to develop and strengthen planning, monitoring, and evaluation procedures
  • Prepare & develop report and track those reports (MMR HMIS, CMAM database, PIMT, Sitrep, ATT, HAC bi-annual and annual reports and events.
  • Most of the reports have a monthly mandate for reporting and this is your responsibility. 
  • Maintain proper documentation and reporting including success stories
  • Ensure joint planning /preparation done in close consultation with FSL, and WASH Sectors in the same location. 
  • Submit weekly and monthly written reports to the health and Nutrition coordinator. 
 

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Requires at least 2 years of proven experience in managing or working in health and nutrition. 
  • Experience in supporting on developing proposals in health and nutrition.
  • Experience in negotiating with Government and other partners (Multi-lateral Agencies, private donors).
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural environment.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Nursing, Medicine, Nutrition, and Community medicine with extensive field experience of not less than 2 years.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Excellent English and Arabic language communication skills (oral and written).
  • Cross-cultural sensitivity, flexible worldview, emotional maturity and physical stamina.
  • Computer skills: demonstrates proficiency in computer applications including the use of Microsoft Office.
  • Good planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work and deliver results under minimum supervision.
  • Experience working in an NGO setting will be an added advantage.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure. 
  • Good understanding of Sphere Standards.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to the Red Cross and NGO Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural contexts, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions with limited resources.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

  • You will be based in a locality. That is the duty station of the candidate. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Daily presence at the PHU based in the field locality. 

Language Requirements:

  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English and Arabic.
