Background: Risk and Compliance Coordinator
The Danish Refugee Council (DRC), one of the world’s leading NGOs, with a focus on responding to displacement, have been registered in Sudan since 2004, delivering life-saving programming in protection, emergency response, shelter, food security and livelihoods, disaster risk reduction, camp management, and humanitarian mine action. DRC has implemented projects in Central Darfur, South Kordofan, Gedaref, Port Sudan, and White Nile. Sudan hosts one of the largest displaced populations in Africa, with over 3.7 million internally displaced people and over 1.1 million refugees from South Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Central African Republic, Chad, Yemen and Syria. Against a background of political crisis, Sudan faces economic and social turmoil, with sharp increases in food and energy costs, further exacerbated by disease outbreaks and ongoing conflict.
POSITION PROFILE The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is a leading protection agency with a mandate is to promote and protect durable solutions to conflict and displacement affected populations on the basis of humanitarian principles and human rights. DRC is implementing a multi-sector response including Protection, Economic Recovery and Livelihoods, and Humanitarian Demining and Peacebuilding projects. DRC supports Sudanese IDPs, refugees and host populations with projects and activities tailored to the needs and gaps in the local contexts. DRC has operational bases in Gedaref, White Nile, South Kordofan, Central Darfur and is supported by a country-office in Port Sudan, while working through partners in other parts of Sudan. The Risk and Compliance Coordinator has a country-wide focus and ensures compliance to DRC procedures and guidelines within the country. The Risk and Compliance Coordinator will provide operational and administrative support to risk management principals in DRC Sudan, including but not limited to the Country Director, SMT and Area Managers, to improve risk management in the program and country operation analytics and decision-making. The position will actively promote and ensure that risk and compliance management actions are in line with DRC policies, donor requirements and local law while nurturing a culture of compliance and risk management in collaboration with managers and staff. The Risk and Compliance Coordinator will also review, plan and implement capacity building plans on risk management, on DRC’s accountability commitments (CHS), and will conduct internal assessments of operations and provide reports to management. As well, the Risk and Compliance Coordinator will support the HR manager by overseeing specific functions in the COCRM system. |
