Background: Working under the guidance and supervision of the health and nutrition Coordinator, the Community Officer is expected to support the implementation of all community-based activities related to the provision of Health and Nutrition at the community level in Red Sea State. This will include supporting planning, coordination with all partners, monitoring implementation, and reporting. The Community officer will also be accountable for the close monitoring of the project’s inputs and outputs to ensure that targets are being achieved. S/he should undertake appropriate measures to strengthen the health & nutrition program to deliver quality services, supervision, and technical guidance for Community health volunteers/workers, and financial resources complying with the organization’s policies and procedures. S/he needs to maintain professional relations with the SMoH, UN bodies INGOs, local NGOs/CBOs, and other relevant stakeholders at the locality level.

Duties and responsibilities:
Strengthening partnership and coordination: - Facilitate information sharing between ADD and the partners,
- Organize/Participate in the joint field missions with partners.
- Ensure that ADD’s and donors/partners’ visibility guidelines are being followed all through the projects’ life cycles.
- with the guidance of the Health & Nutrition Coordinator, and in collaboration with SC, SMOH, Local authorities, and other stakeholders, identify and map the communities targeted in each locality
Lead the designing, developing, and implementing community-based interventions - Provide high-quality inputs to support and inform the design and development of innovative community-based interventions,
- Lead implementation of community-based interventions targeting both the stakeholders and the beneficiaries,
- In partnership with all stakeholders set up criteria for selection of the CHNCs.
- Organize/participate in conducting the H&N needs assessments and determine the potential for ADD’s contribution,
- Participate in other community-based interventions (awareness-raising campaigns, FGDs,....etc)
- Carry out activities according to the implementation plan.
- Lead and coordinate the training activities of CHNCs.
- Direct supervision of CHNCs and CHW/Vs, and lead the collection of reports and daily formats provided by them.
- Participate in the development of the CHW/Vs and CHNCs reporting formats.
- Mobilize communities in the targeted project locations and sensitize them on the project opportunities and limitations by establishing & orientation of gender-sensitive CHNCs in each area.
- play essential roles in the awareness raising to encourage targeted communities to adopt life-saving and care practices.
- Provide high-quality technical inputs to support and inform the design/planning and development of H&N projects at the state,
- Liaise on a daily basis with CHNCs & CHW/Vs and communities to guarantee the smooth operation of the interventions at the community level.
- Update the program’s department on the donors’ conditions and support the Community health volunteers/workers in the implementation of the projects’ plans ensuring that donors’ regulations are abided by.
Support Capacity-Building and Research - Support conducting training/ learning needs assessments at the community level,
- Organize/participate in implementing capacity development activities targeting the different community groups (community leaders, volunteers, mothers, and caretakers,...)
- Support/participate in conducting nutrition program needs assessments,
- Support/facilitate data collection, analysis, and interpretation.
Support Monitoring and Evaluation: - Participate in developing innovative program monitoring protocols, tools, and monitoring plans for the targeted communities,
- Collect data, document, and report according to the monitoring plan. Ensure monitoring requirements are met.
- Organize/ conduct scheduled monitoring field visits to the targeted communities ensuring ADD’s visibility,
- Prepare monitoring and program-related periodic reports -as required share timely with the supervisor,
- Support conducting/organizing program reviews as well as mid-term and final evaluations of the program interventions,
- Monitor and follow up on CHNCs and CHW/Vs performance with the provision of the informative report as required by the M&E plans.
- Support conducting regular program reviews with SMoH, partners, beneficiaries, and program staff- including the care providers and community volunteers- and document the performance results.
- Contribute to the monthly production of human interest stories.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
- University degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or any other relevant field of study,
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in a similar program as a technical staff member with the government, international/national NGO,
- Experience in the Nutrition Sector is Highly desirable,
- Training experience is an asset
Technical Skills: - Good Knowledge and understanding of humanitarian issues,
- Very good knowledge of all aspects of the Health & Nutrition community-based program including promotional activities,
- Very good knowledge of the different community approaches used for enhancing community engagement and participation,
- Command of the project management cycle,
- Knowledge of logistics and administrative procedures is considered an asset.
- knowledge of eastern Sudan community culture and local language is an advantage.

Contacts and Key Relationships: - This position contacts include all ADD program and admin Staff in the Red Sea Office, and health and nutrition staff in the HQ.
Working Conditions: The position is based in the state’s office in Red Sea/Port Sudan with approximately 60% field visits to the program’s implementation locations in rural areas and camps. The Community officer should be security sensitive and fully aware of the precautions and security measures/guidelines. S/He should closely follow and comply with the ADD safety protocols. In addition, all regulations and policies stated in ADD’s HR manual are to be followed. Competencies: - Good communication and interpersonal skills,
