Introduction to the Country Office:

Norwegian church Aid is in Sudan since 1972 and works in the fields of relief, rehabilitation, and development, and works through national partners.
NCA’s Country Office is currently in Port Sudan. It has a Field Office in Al-Gadarif, Al-Gadarif State, where its projects activities encompass GBV, Climate Resilient WASH, Climate Smart Economic Empowerment, and Health. As well, its projects activities in Kosti, White Nile State are implemented by the national partners

 Background:

The NCA Finance Department is strengthening its capacity to ensure full compliance with NCA's operational requirements, and donors' expectations, and accountability commitments.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Areas of Responsibility:

 

Is to ensure that all financial related transactions handled are following Sudanese laws and regulations and the documentations are in coherence with NCA routines and guidelines, NCA Sudan Management Manual and other internal routines as per instruction by the Senior Finance Coordinator.  

 

Main Tasks:

 

Cash and Bank

 

Responsible of preparing and paying all cash payments.  Finance Assistant responsible of the cash boxes and that Finance Assistant at any time should secure that the cash at hand and the cash book are in line/agreeing.  The cash box should be updated on daily basis. 

Finance Assistant should be ready at any time for receiving a “Surprising Cash Count”. AS well, Finance Assistant should always ensure that there is enough cash at any time.

Responsible for issuing cheque payments as per the “Payment Request” and with proper documentation. Documents should be checked before the cheque is issued.  Finance Assistant should also ensure that original invoices are attached to the “Payment Request” and stamped “Paid”.  Finance Assistant goes to the banks for transfer and cashing of money when needed. 

 

Control Functions

 

Finance Assistant is responsible for checking that the vouchers posted into the system have the correct signatories and necessary documentation and are in line with the NCA rules and regulations. 

 

Uploading of Cash and bank Vouchers to Maconomy

 

Every Monday, he/she ensures that all cash vouchers are entered in Maconomy Finance System and up to date. 

 

Month End Processes

  • Responsible for filing system. 
  • Data entry in Maconomy.
  • Distribution of incentive for the volunteers in the camp every 15days.
  • Responsible for archiving finance vouchers – physical files and electronic.

Partners

  • Data Entry of Partner vouchers.
  • Support review of partner monthly schedules submitted to NCA including payment vouchers and bank reconciliations before posting vouchers into Maconomy.
  • Member of the Partner Assessment Team for new and current partners.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Required Education, Skill and Experience:

  • A related college degree.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Relevant experience.
  • Good knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
  • Familiarity with accounting software.
  • Time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
  • Attention to detail to catch errors.

We Offer:

  • A monthly “Gross Salary” of USD (1,151.00). 
  • The contract of employment is bound by the minimum requirements of the Labor Act for the Year 1997 and the maximum of NCA National Staff Handbook.
