 Background:

Medical Coordinator - will be responsible for supporting all Health and nutrition activities for BHA supported Health facilities in South Kordofan and West Kordofan Localities.

He/ She is responsibly to ensure responsibilities will  ensure quality of primary health care being delivered in Concern supported health facilities through continues technical supervision, mentoring and coaching of health staffs in health facilities and provide basic and refresher training for the staffs.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key Role and Responsibilities 

 Programme Planning, Implementation, and Monitoring

  • Improving the quality of the PHC and nutrition programs through continuous monitoring using supervisory check list.
  • Ensure program targets are met using indicator tracking table
  • Ensure diagnosis and treatment of patients is based on standard procedures(national and international guidelines)
  • Actively participate in the management and referral of patients based on the national protocol
  • Ensure the community based activities such as EPI, nutrition screening, health education and defaulter tracing are done properly
  • Actively participate in the identification and management of any disaster or epidemics.
  • Build the capacity of national staffs through proper coaching and training
  • Support to strengthen planning, review and coordination activities in all targeted HFs and LHA
  • Strengthen  Health Management Information Systems  for data management and data analysis (HMIS,DHIS2)
  • Strengthening health facility capacity and readiness to provide primary health care services during disease surge and increased demand for displaced population due to conflict and plan support based on gaps.
  • Support mobile service delivery to expand services in health emergences
  • Support to establish process of quality monitoring and continuous quality improvement process.
  •  Facilitate training on quality of care and supportive supervision 
  • Facilitate basic  and refresher  training to further strengthen technical capacity of health facility staff
  •  Ensure integration of the Community Management of Acute Malnutrition (CMAM) and optimal Infant and Child Feeding (IYCF) component of the nutrition program into the Primary Healthcare in Concern.
  • Ensure adherence to the current SAM management protocols in OTP/TSFP sites 
  • Help with activity verification and monitoring (stock and program quality) at supported facilities to ensure smooth, high-quality program implementation

 

Coordination and Representation

  • Do active networking with nutrition stakeholders such as SMoH, WHO, WFP and UNICEF.
  • Participate in the nutrition coordination meetings at state level and represent Concern in technical meetings as needed.
  • Represent Concern in technical nutrition missions conducted by stakeholders and UN agencies.
  • Facilitate learning, documentation and sharing of experience/learning of Health service planning, management and government within the operation areas.
  • Contribute to the development of programme database and maintain statistical database of programme figures for all the program sites. 
  • Prepare weekly and monthly reports highlighting programme achievement, challenges and plans and submit them to the his/her line managers on regular and timely manner.
  • Compile information collected from various programme areas to produce monthly narrative reports.

 

Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning

  • Responsible for collection, collation and dissemination of data from the Concern supported  facilities to get the data from OPD, RH, OTP,TSFPs and SCs program 

 

Other Duties:

  • Engage in emergency response as and when required by the organization
  • Support implementation of other activities of BHA project as soon as the manager and team identify the gap.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned, including administrative and planning functions.
  • Any other tasks agreed with the Line Manager.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualification skills and Experience 

  • Should have degree in Medicine- Medical   with 2 years’ experience. 
  • Experience in conducting BEMONC, IMNCI and EPI training for health workers 
  • Experience in Health service planning and management in supporting HF and LHA
  • Experience in needs assessments, surveillance, surveys, and information management
  • Experience in training, supervision and management of staff
  • Excellent computer skills especially word, excel, and power point. 
  • Ability to communicate and write reports in English is required.
  • Knowledge and experience of humanitarian work is an added advantage
  • Knowledge of policies and guidelines pertaining to the health and nutrition sectors in Sudan is required. 

Ability to travel to field locations with rough roads and extreme weather conditions.
