Main Purpose of Job: 

 

 The GAVI project cross border Health Information Management Office will directly report to the GAVI health manager and will be responsible for all data information, management, and analysis from the IRC Sudan GAVI project. The HIMO will provide day-to-day support and lead all aspects of all health information at the projects sites and build monthly reports and analysis. As part of the Health Data Unit, the position will provide required support on design and implement new technology.

A cross border Health Information Systems (HIS) Officer is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of health information systems. They work to ensure that health data is collected, analyzed, and reported in a timely and accurate manner. HIS Officers also play a key role in training and supporting health workers in the use of health information systems. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Lead management of data collection tools.
  • Ensuring the quality and security of health data.
  • Managing the collection, analysis, and reporting of health data.
  • Lead and Management of HIS components such as (Software, Users, Reports) and data management tools which comprises all GAVI project beneficiaries' data compiled by data entry/ operators daily.
  • Create and develop weekly data reports using.
  • Trouble shoot day-to-day issues faced by GAVI project, including tablet and software assistance and data analysis.
  • Ensure quality information management systems and a proper performance of the ICT infrastructure or the community health program.
  • Provide support on preparing monthly internal and external technical reports and works closely with Health manager to submit correct, timely reports.
  • Provide info management services to support CHVs monitoring activities,
  • In collaboration with the health management, design and implement a dissemination plan for all information products (e.g., situation reports, data, maps).
  • Apply regional information management standards, policies, and procedures to guide related activities.
  • Provide technical support to clinic data clerks, to build their capacity and ensure strong data quality.
  • Create map layouts, map templates, map icons, generate maps, generate reports, and ensure that the maps and reports are stored in the database correctly.
  • Develop new applications, tools, techniques, or methods to improve workflow and train others in their use.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends and technologies in health information systems, data management, and health informatics.
  • Train healthcare staff on data collection protocols, health information systems, and data management best practices

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • University degree in information management/technology and systems, computer science, data science.
  • Minimum 2-4 years previous experience working with information systems management, monitoring and evaluation, database development and management; NGO experience is an advantage. Statistics, data analysis are all relevant areas of experience.  Proven experience with tools like Power BI, CommCare, Tableau, DHIS, and Excel
  • Experience with descriptive data analysis and/or data management.
  • Able to think critically about data and information, triangulating and cross-checking data when needed and with minimal guidance.
  • Excellent visual design sense regarding clear and accurate presentation of data.
  • Strong computer literacy with Microsoft Office (in particular, Excel).               
  • Able to develop GUI interface for SQL DB using C#, VBA languages.               
  • Very good analytical and reporting skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good social skills and ability to work as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Full professional competency jn Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with business intelligence and analytic tools such as ONA, Kobo, or Zoho, Tablue and Power PI reports.
  • Experience using ArcGlS is desired.           
  • Certificates or Licenses: certificate of education for the master's degree or above-if relevant.
