 Background:

PURPOSE of the POSITION:

The Inclusive Business Officer (IBO) works closely with the Project Coordinator, Agric Business Advisor, and the roving Inclusive Business Officer, to ensure that potential, cost effective, environment friendly and sustainable business options, to promote value chains and add value to farm products in rainfed areas, are identified, analyzed, negotiated and endorsed by small farmers and small / medium Agric businesses for mutual benefits for both entities.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

MAIN RESPOSIBILITIES/ ACTIVITIES:

  • Participates in the development, implementation, management and evaluation of the Business Models in SIPRA project in Gedaref State;
  • Monitors and analyses business project development and implementation; 
  • Coordinates activities related to project selection and funding (proposal reviews, project preparations and submissions, progress reports, final reports, financial statements, etc.); reviews relevant documents and reports; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; liaises with relevant parties; identifies and tracks follow-up actions;
  •  Researches, analyses and presents information gathered from diverse sources on the promotion, return on investment and impact of inclusive business including through case studies, implementation toolkits, and other related material. Keeps abreast of recent developments in these fields;
  • Assists in policy development, including the review and analysis of issues and trends related to the promotion of inclusive businesses, preparation of evaluations or other research activities and studies;
  • Undertakes survey initiatives; helps in designing data collection tools; reviews, analyses and interprets responses, captures and documents success stories, identifies problems/issues and prepares conclusions;
  • Prepares various written outputs, e.g. draft background papers, analysis, sections of reports and studies, inputs to publications, etc;
  • Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc;
  • Undertakes outreach activities; conducts training workshops, seminars, etc.; makes presentations on assigned topics/activities as deem appropriate;
  • Participates in or lead field missions, including provision of guidance to external consultants, private sector investors, government officials and other parties and drafting mission summary reports;
  • Coordinates activities related to challenge fund budget and funding of inclusive businesses proposed by small farmers in the target areas of the Gedaref State;
  •  Performs other duties as required.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Professionalism

  • He/she is supposed to have the knowledge, experience  and understanding of theories, concepts and approaches related to promotion of  inclusive Agric businesses, preferably in Sudan or similar countries;
  • Ability to conduct data collection and analysis using various methods; 
  • Familiarity with. and experience in the use of various research sources, including electronic sources on the internet, intranet and other databases; 
  • Ability to apply judgment in the context of assignments given, plan own work and manage conflicting priorities; 
  • Shows pride in work and in achievements; demonstrates professional competence and mastery of subject matter; is conscientious and efficient in meeting commitments, observing deadlines and achieving results;

Knowledge

  • University degree (BSC or Master) in agriculture Economics, Business Administration, economics, development studies.
  • Proven experience in promoting Agric businesses and establishing sustainable business relationships between farmers, animal producers, fishermen and private investors (local, national and / or international).
  • Minimum working experience of 2-3 years in project implementation
  • Data collection, analysis and project reporting.
  • Working effectively with diverse actors.
  • Good spoken and written command of English 
  • Excellent spoken and written command of Arabic
  • Computer skills

 SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Duty station is Gedaref with frequent trips to project locations in Gedaref with up to 70% of time required for travel to the project areas in Gedaref .

The candidate will subject to Membercheck /COTER procedures, which is against Government Sanction lists to verify that the candidate is not on any of these lists. This counter-terrorism check is a requirement of Donor Government Regulations and is therefore an important part of an employee’s ability to fulfil his/her employment requirements before signing the Employment Contract with the Organization.

WE OFFER: The salary scale for this position is ranged between H 5, 893 & H 6, 937 USD per month based on experience and qualifications.
