Background: The Child Protection in Emergency Specialist is responsible for supporting the contextualization and implementation of Save the Children International’s (SCI) child protection programming in Sudan, aligning with the country’s Response Strategy and Programme Offer. This role ensures the delivery of safe and high-quality child protection interventions while working closely with the Senior Child Protection Specialist and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include conducting assessments, designing programs, ensuring technical quality, monitoring and evaluation, and facilitating learning. The specialist will also build the capacity of staff and partners, support donor reporting, and contribute to effective inter-sectoral collaboration to address children’s needs holistically. The role requires active representation and advocacy, technical coordination, and collaboration with local authorities and child protection stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and scalability of interventions.

Duties and responsibilities:
Key Areas of Accountability Programme Implementation and Support - Support the contextualization and implementation of child protection response plans in line with the Child Protection Programme Offer.
- Lead the operationalization of integrated child protection programming in areas such as case management, SGBV, alternative care, child-friendly spaces, and community-based child protection.
- Ensure adherence to safe programming principles and conduct audits to improve program quality.
- Collaborate with other sectors, including education, nutrition, and health, to deliver comprehensive services for children.
- Provide technical coaching, mentoring, and hands-on capacity building for implementation teams.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning - Work closely with the MEAL team to develop sector-specific M&E plans and ensure quality benchmarks are contextualized and implemented.
- Analyze data from monitoring activities and use insights to inform program adaptations.
- Contribute to donor reporting by providing technical inputs and ensuring timely, high-quality reports.
Capacity Building - Identify capacity gaps among staff, partners, and authorities, and develop tailored capacity-building plans.
- Facilitate training sessions and provide ongoing mentoring and coaching for child protection teams.
Representation and Advocacy - Actively participate in relevant coordination groups, including Protection Working Groups and CP Area of Responsibility (CP AoR).
- Collaborate with government authorities and stakeholders to strengthen child protection systems.
- Contribute to advocacy initiatives and contextualize global child protection approaches to the Sudan context.
Child Safeguarding - Ensure that SCI’s Child Safeguarding and Protection from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (PSEA) policies are embedded in programming and staff practices.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Qualifications and Experience Essential: - Minimum of 5 years of experience in child protection in emergencies.
- Master’s degree in a relevant field or a Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in program management, donor proposal development, and financial management.
- Strong technical knowledge of child protection frameworks and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead assessments, design programs, and monitor implementation.
- Fluency in English and Arabic, with excellent communication skills.
- Culturally sensitive, with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
- Willingness to work in challenging environments and travel extensively.
Desirable: - Experience in the Sudanese context or similar regions.
- Additional language skills in Arabic.
