DT Global is seeking an experienced individual to serve as Chief of Party (COP) for the anticipated USAID Feed the Future-funded Sudan Transforming Agrifood and Nutrition through Multisectoral Inclusive Approaches (TANMIA) Activity. This agriculture sector and market systems strengthening activity focuses on contributing to long-term stability and food security in Sudan including improving food security and increasing the income of smallholder farmers by increasing livestock and agricultural productivity, enhancing efficient use of natural resources, and increasing farmers’ access to inputs and finance. The TANMIA Activity is anticipated to be in the $50M-$100M range.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Serve as principal manager and representative of a large, complex USAID project, with a diverse technical and operational team. 
  • Provide strong leadership, project vision and planning, ensuring timely and high-quality contract deliverables for USAID. 
  • Complemented by a Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP) and a strong team of subject matter experts, provide technical leadership to Sudan TANMIA by leveraging technical expertise in one or more the following areas: food security, agricultural and livestock productivity, and systems resilience.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for USAID. Build and maintain strong working relationships with members of the USAID/Sudan Mission, other development implementers, the private sector, and other Sudanese organizations who will engage with TANMIA. 
  • Hold ultimate responsibility for both the technical quality of the project as well as for its effective financial and operational management leading high-capacity functional and technical teams towards the achievement of activity goals and objectives.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • A master’s degree or higher in a relevant field of study, such as agriculture, food systems, economics, conflict prevention and resolution, finance, international development, or another related field is required. Alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and three additional years of relevant experience is acceptable. 
  • At least ten years of professional technical experience related to the successful implementation of large and complex development initiatives in one or more of the following areas: agriculture, market systems development, food security, and livelihoods.
  • Proven leadership in the management of similarly sized international donor support programs with skills in strategic planning, management, supervision, and budgeting is required. USAID experience is strongly preferred. 
  • Experience designing, managing, or providing oversight to monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning approaches and processes.
  • Proven experience working with senior government officials, private sector leaders, civil society representatives, and other development stakeholders is required. 
  • Demonstrated skills in building, mobilizing, and leading multi-disciplinary teams are required.  
  • Experience managing USAID programs with grants pools is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are required.  
  • Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is required; Arabic is desired.
  • Proven senior-level experience managing donor-supported programs in conflict or post-conflict environments with presence of both development and humanitarian actors. Experience in Sudan is highly desired.
