 Background:

WHO WE ARE

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) works worldwide to provide protection and humanitarian assistance to people affected by conflict and armed violence. We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

 

THE PURPOSE

 

ICT Specialist manages and organizes all ICT systems and services in the location where s/he is posted. S/he assists the ICT Department in designing and installing ICT infrastructure.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensures ICT inventory is updated regularly and maintains adequate stock levels.
  • Ensures existing ICT infrastructure is functional.
  • Ensures that global/country-level policies and procedures are implemented and followed.
  • Briefs, advises, and trains end-users on the ICRC's ICT systems.
  • Maintains ICT stock and inventory and carries out regular physical checks. 
  • Drafts and updates technical documentation for all IT equipment.
  • Carries out the duties of ICT Specialist 1 when s/he is absent.
  • Oversees the printer’s ink cartridge-related transactions i.e. Stock Management, Inventory, and Delegation Supply. 
  • May be called upon to manage and train ICT teams. 
  • May be asked to travel in Darfur based on needs.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, electronics, computer science, or similar field.
  • 3–4 years' troubleshooting experience in an area of the ICT service catalog (e.g. workplace services, telecommunications, IT, help desk, etc.).
  • 1 year of people-management experience a strong asset.
  • Very good ICT knowledge.
  • Excellent command (written and spoken) of Arabic and English.
  • Proficiency in Change Control (ICT), Service delivery, Problem Management (ICT)
  • Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Teamwork & Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
