Invisible Children is seeking a Gender and Protection Coordinator (GPC) who will lead and coordinate the implementation of Afia, a DRL funded program for GBV prevention and response in North and South Darfur states. The GPC will lead the development and implementation of the project’s overall strategy and will ensure the integration of women, youth, and other vulnerable populations into all program activities. Afia is a peace building project that supports women’s networks and CSOs in conflict-affected regions of North and South Darfur to lead community based activities that safeguard women and girls; respond to the needs of GBV and CRSV survivors; advocate for equal rights, access to GBV services as well as survivor-centered justice; and safely participate in all aspects of public life. 2. POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION This role works under the direct supervision of the Sudan Program Manager and coordinates the with Darfur Protection Coordinator and the HQ Program Coordinator.

Duties and responsibilities:
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: - Lead the development of the project strategy and approach (integration of gender into all program activities as well as GYSI-specific activities, including technical implementation, monitoring, and evaluation and learning (MEL), operations, policies, and procedures).
- Collaborate with the Sudan Program Manager, implementing partners technical teams, MEL, and other personnel on the GBV program strategy implementation and monitoring.
- Lead or assist in the design and implementation of gender analyses, impact assessments, and other learning studies.
- Provide technical advice and training to IC program staff, implementing partners, and stakeholders to build their capacity to integrate gender, youth, and other relevant social considerations into designing interventions, implementation, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
- Provide remote technical assistance to the field social workers from partner organizations in North and South Darfur and in the main offices in Port Sudan to integrate gender and GBV into program, sectors and systems. This includes providing technical input on draft proposals, strategies and Gender Action Plans.
- Review and provide input to IC’s other projects in Sudan, with attention to Gender and Protection dimensions of technical activities and operations and discuss Gender, youth and women empowerment issues and priorities with IC senior management in Sudan and the local partners.
- Support the MEL Lead to ensure that all data is disaggregated by sex, age, and other social factors in data collection processes, analysis, and reporting.
- Work with MEL and technical teams to incorporate gender, women, youth and marginalized communities into collaborating, learning, and adapting plans and practices.
- Lead or assist in the preparation of reports and documents for submission to the donor.
- Write, coordinate, and disseminate lessons learned among team and program stakeholders.
- Maintain an up-to-date and thorough understanding of Afia related to program components.
Logistics/Finance; - Actively plan and coordinate logistics and movements from and to different operational areas, including in coordination with other protection teams from the partners to ensure resource efficiency.
- Take the lead in supporting the coordination of program activities as they relate to logistics, administration, finances, or security, in coordination with IC’s Security and Operations Officer, program manager and partners focal person.
- Understand and support the protection staff to comply with the relevant internal policies and directives.
Innovation, knowledge management and capacity building; - Identify, capture, synthesize, and share lessons learned for knowledge development and to build the capacity of the Protection team from the partner staff.
- Apply innovative approaches and promote good practices to support the implementation and delivery of concrete and sustainable protection program results.
- Contribute to the planning and monitoring for MHPSS programming and focus in close collaboration with different sectors in the field.
- Work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning team (MEAL) to conduct monitoring for MHPSS activities, assessments to relate to Protection.
- Identify, document and disseminate relevant project success, challenges and follow up on implementation of project’s action points.
- Contribute to the daily quality implementation, monitoring and evaluation of MHPSS/ Protection- related interventions in the area of jurisdiction.
- Supervise all Income Generation activities with a focus on quality control and impact.
- Ensure program compliance in relation to Income Generation guidelines for implementation.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
- Professional level of English (spoken and written) and proficiency in Arabic and other relevant local languages
- Communication Integrity: Knowing how to model the highest standards of integrity and communication both internally with IC teams and externally with local and regional stakeholders and partners.
- Program Management Skills: At least 3 years of experience in implementing gender equality, women’s empowerment, gender based violence response and/or psychosocial programs.
- Bachelor or Masters degree in Gender or Social Studies, Management, Development or related field
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Sudanese networks connected to women empowerment, gender and vulnerable populations.
- Partnership Management: 5 years of experience in managing and supporting local and regional partners to ensure their engagement, engagement and participation
- Experience working in Darfur region and in challenging environments.
- Experience in capacity building of beneficiaries, staff development, training and mentoring, as well as team building
- Good organizational skills, writing and synthesis
- Experience in managing budgets, logistics, and human resources, and working with relevant departments
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word and Excel
