 Background:

Medair is a humanitarian INGO whose mission is to relieve suffering in some of the world’s most remote and devastated places. Currently implementing a Health and Nutrition project in Khartoum

In response to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Sudan, Medair is expanding activities focused on delivering life-saving health and nutrition services to conflict-affected communities. Medair projects include primary healthcare, public health interventions, and outreach activities, as well as implementing community management of acute malnutrition. Medair is looking to expand its health and nutrition response in Khartoum



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Arrange and facilitate the implementation of the program to support three PHCCs in the Kareri district of Khartoum.
  • Provide oversight and supervision of all activities at the assigned project using the project cycle management model. 
  • Coordinate HF staff based on available tools and organize the team/site efficiently and according to quality standards.
  • Oversee the implementation of the OPD (incl IMCI), SAM services, RH, and IYCF practices, following national guidelines and protocols
  • Coordinate and assist with remote supervision and on-the-job training of health and nutrition through WhatsApp,and Microsoft Teams, incl. community health workers involved in the program when the network allows. 
  • Ensure adherence to the organization’s values and professional behaviour of all health and nutrition staff and take the lead in resolving problems if needed.

Quality management:

With the use of relevant technical national and international guidelines:

  • Ensure accurate record keeping of all activities at the health & nutrition facilities remotely. 
  • Collect, review, and submit required daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the H&N PM and H&N Advisor (if relevant). 
  • Carry out required quality checks according to provided checklists and assist in modifying the checklists based on gaps identified. 
  • Ensure the functionality of the feedback mechanism and AAP from beneficiaries. 

External representation:

  • Act as the team focal point for community leaders and beneficiaries in the assigned catchment area.
  • Liaise with the Government and other partners providing health and nutrition services in the same location.
  • Attend district-level nutrition-related meetings if required.
  • In collaboration with the H&N PM and other casual staff operating in the same district ensure staff of referral facilities are informed of all aspects of the program including referral criteria
  • Assist in mapping of villages and communities that have poor access to health and nutrition services.
  • In collaboration with the H&N PM establish referral pathways to health facilities, Paediatrics inpatient facility and IPD SAM services. 
  • Provide feedback to the H&N PM on community specific challenges and barriers.

Logistics:

  • Ensure sufficient stock (medicine, medical supplies, food supplements products and non-medical supplies) is available in all facilities.
  • Ensure safe storage of all medicine’s medical supplies and equipment’s, food supplements products and equipment.
  • Monitor expiration dates to ensure stocks are used prior to their expiration date.
  • Train health facility staff on proper utilization of consumption lists and report monthly as appropriate to H&N PM.
  • Conduct weekly stock checks remotely and keep accurate records of stock movements of medical and nutritional supplies.
  • Report any suspected or identified fraud cases at the health and nutrition site to the H&N PM.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualification 

  • Diploma in public health or other relevant clinical degree doctor, nurse, midwife, nutrition and Good health background IMAM, IMNCI, and IYCF trainer

Work experience

 

  • Minimum of 2 years relevant post-graduate experience
  • Experience working with an NGO in humanitarian emergency response 
  • Health & Nutrition project implementation 
  • Supervisory and training experience 
  • Strong people management skill

Languages

  

  • High level of written and spoken Arabic
  • Good level of English (oral & written
