 Background:

Carrying out medical data collection and entry activities into the mission database recording all relevant clinical and demographic data on patients and ensuring data quality/reliability, according to MSF protocols and maintaining confidentiality while producing the appropriate, updated documents for the medical team in order to support decision making processes



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Performing data entry of all epidemiological information into select databases program and creating appropriate reports, providing data for project development purposes.
  • Ensuring that all data entered has been authorized and that appropriate documentation has been received (patient records, treatment monitoring, etc.). Ensuring that all data entry processes occur in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Ensuring all data collected and entered to databases is consistently accurate and complete. Being responsible for ensuring that quality control queries of the database are followed up, ensuring identification of data entry errors and corrections. Immediately reporting to the supervisor, any anomalies in the database
  • Filing documents according to MSF standards
  • Communicating regularly with the HCW’s, assisting in the (re)training when necessary, on proper registration of patients, proper filling of the various forms,  clarifying queries, obtaining missing information and correcting errors, ensuring they have ongoing sufficient supplies of necessary hardcopy data collection forms.
  • Assisting in the compilation and preparation of regular reports and providing detailed information to medical and laboratory teams (weekly, monthly, according to patient treatment requirements).

The Medical Data Processing Officer (MDPO) will play a critical role in monitoring and reporting public health trends and infectious diseases within Al Nao, Al Saudi and Al Buluk hospitals. They will collaborate closely with epidemiologists, healthcare providers, and public health officials to collect, analyze, and interpret data related to disease surveillance. The MDPO will contribute to the early detection of outbreaks, implementation of control measures, and the overall enhancement of public health strategies of MSF

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Surveillance Activities:
    • Conduct ongoing surveillance of infectious diseases, vaccine-preventable diseases, and other public health threats.
    • Monitor trends in disease incidence, prevalence, and distribution within the community.
    • Implement protocols for the timely reporting of notifiable diseases to local and state health departments.
  2. Data Collection and Analysis:
    • Collect, organize, and analyze epidemiological data from various sources, including healthcare facilities, laboratories, and community health programs.
    • Prepare detailed reports and summaries of surveillance findings for internal use and dissemination to relevant stakeholders.
  3. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate response efforts during disease outbreaks or public health emergencies.
    • Communicate surveillance findings and recommendations to healthcare providers, public health agencies, and community stakeholders.
  4. Education and Training:
    • Provide training and education to healthcare staff on surveillance protocols, infection control measures, and reporting requirements.
    • Participate in community outreach activities to raise awareness about infectious diseases and preventive measures.
  5. Quality Assurance and Improvement:
    • Evaluate the effectiveness of surveillance systems and recommend enhancements to improve data collection, analysis, and reporting processes..
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines related to disease surveillance and reporting.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education: Essential, higher education with proven computer literacy, degree in Information and Technology (IT) or mathematics field. Desirable Nurse or Public Health Officer.

Experience: Minimum 2 years work experience in data entry/analysis. Desirable with MSF or other NGOs.

Languages: English and Arabic are essential.

Knowledge: Desirable computer literacy (word, excel and internet).
