Main Purpose of Job: 

 

The SHLS Officer – Khartoum office will support the establishment of each SHLS (either mobile or static); plan trainings for SHLS Facilitators, youth and community members; and conduct support and supervision visits for each SHLS and verify records and reports from IRC SHLS facilitators. S/he will closely coordinate with the  CP Manager and  assist in the continuation of child protection interventions in Khartoum State, with a focus on internally displaced people IDSs and refugees, including unaccompanied children and children who have experienced or are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide daily guidance on SHLS Activities to the assistant in accordance with the standard tools and procedures.
  • Ensure weekly support supervision visits and structured Observaition for SHLS assistant and facilitators, and prepare a brief report on each visit.
  • Ensure there is a regular review and interaction with the community members.
  • Keep records of children /youth and facilitators attendance on daily bases and accurately recorded and reported.
  • Review comments received in the suggestion Boxes with his/her team.
  • Ensure regular communication with the senior manager and the IPCO for updates on achievements and challenges.
  • Formulate community child protection committee from the FMD benefiters to assist him /her in the better community engagement.
  • Directly supervises the SHLS assistants if the scale of the project required additional staff.
  • Mantin open and professional relation with the team members promoting a strong team spirit and providing oversight and guidance to enable staff to successfully perform in their positions.
  • Ensure timely completion of monthly time sheets probation review of annual performance reviews.
  • Assit with recruitment of SHLS assistant and facilitator  if required in accordance with the community representatives.
  • Ensure to support the capacity building opportunities to the SHLs team under direct supervision, with coordination with the Snr CP manager.
  • Support the implementation and adherence to grant work plans, spending, plans and evaluation plans.
  • Support regular field monitoring and modifications as required.
  • Keep activated records of the inventory and submit weekly inventory report. 
  • Provide weekly and staff activity reports.
  • Actively develop and maintain effective working relationships with SHLS actors in the field including government actors UN agencies international and local NGOs and relevant actors.Organize regular SHLs meetings at field level.
  • Program development contribute of development of cp program strategical direction for responding to harmed or at risk to be harmed children.
  • Contribute to the development of activities proposals and concept notes coordinate with other IRC sector’s staff (i.g WPE. health, EH, ERD, SC, finance) at the field level.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Technical diploma or degree in social work, education, human rights, or related degree desired 
  • At least 2 years’ experience of implementing child protection programs, preferable social work or education, in humanitarian or development settings 
  • Previous experience supervising and coordinating a team in a cross-cultural setting preferred 
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with children and particularly vulnerable children 
  • Previous experience in emergency preparedness and response preferred 
  • Previous experience in capacity building and mentoring of staff preferred 
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well.  
  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required
