Main Purpose of Job: 

 

The Case Management Officer – Khartoum office  will be responsible for managing the Case Management team in Omdurman. The CP Case Management Officer will ensure effective implementation and accurate documentation of all CP cases, through staff supervision and support of the five caseworkers in Omdurman. The Officer works in close collaboration with CP Manager to ensure complete support to the team. S/he will assist in the continuation of child protection interventions in Khartoum state, with a focus on internally displaced people IDSs and refugees, including unaccompanied children and children who have experienced or are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Carry out implementation of the child protection case management activities as per the work plan while always observing the best practice and IRC policy.
  • To ensure effective implementation of services mapping for children harmed or at risk of being harmed through appropriate assignment of cases, monitoring and guidance to mobile response case workers 
  • Put in place functional case management, referral, and information management systems for appropriate identification, responses, and follow-up for children harmed or at risk of being harmed.
  • Plan and conduct psychosocial support activities according to technical quality standards and appropriate epidemic and pandemic mitigation measures.
  • Initiate and maintain regular communication with the  CP Manager for appropriate technical review and insights in the day-to-day delivery of project activities. 
  • Proactively identify new or emerging needs, gaps, and opportunities including documentation of practices (good and bad) regarding child protection intervention to enhance the safety of children and families in their homes and communities.
  • Provide guidance individually and through group meetings, collaborate with other CM staff and partners in order to regularly report trends and communicate closely with the Snr officer, CPM and CPC
  • Ensure that each caseworker is effectively implementing CM and provide guidlines according to Standard Operating Procedures through regular individual and team meetings and case reviews with caseworkers. 
  • Ensure cases are receiving appropriate support; and when needed, support individual cases and provide regular monitoring of all aspects of services
  • Assign and review caseworker’s caseload to ensure they are manageable and share challenges with CP's leaders
  • Conduct post-service child and family interviews to evaluate the quality and impact of case management by the case workers. Document feedback and analyse trends regularly; discuss lessons learned with the team and CPC and CPM
  • Represent the project in the case management working group at the state level as may be required by the supervisor.
  • Coordinate and collaborate closely with the government authorities and international and national partners at the state level.
  • Represent IRC in the local CP areas of responsibility subsector at the state level and other relevant mechanisms and forums.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly timesheets, probation reviews and annual performance reviews. Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit within the staff to successfully perform in their positions.
  • Led capacity-building initiatives for the staff and volunteers under his/her supervision as required by the management.
  • prepare and submit periodically one-on-one meetings with the Senior CP manager as required.
  • Support the CP team in the implementation of other sector’s activities if needed.
  • To be Keen to build personal capacity and attend any required complimentary training activities.
  •   Ensure good communication and coaching with his /her subordinates.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Accumulate and file reports for every activity implemented
  • Contribute to the donor report compilation
  • Participate in regular review of project documents and provide insights for improvement.
  • Monitor, mentor, and report on the performance of the community incentive workers within the project.
  • Support the Manager in the development and implementation of project procurement plans, cash projections, and spending plans.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly timesheets, leave plans, and , goals settings, annual performance reviews.
  • Identify and enrol for capacity enhancement training, and mentorship sessions to improve the quality of delivery.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • BA or equivalent in social work, human rights, or related degree desired with at least 2 years of experience in implementing child protection programs, preferably social work, or case management, in humanitarian settings. Experience in start-up programming preferred.
  • Experience working with IDPs/ refugees/crises affected populations, and vulnerable groups of people preferred
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
  • Good computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, MS, teams, zoom.
  • Capable of applying skills and knowledge in a range of capacities, including direct implementation, coordination function, training, and the transfer of technical knowledge
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well
  • Fluency in English required, working knowledge of relevant local languages desirable
