Job Title: Senior Finance Officer 

Base: Port-Sudan with visit to state field offices.

Location: Port-Sudan.

Start Date: Immediately.

Contract Duration: 12 Months.

Gross Salary: 700 USD (the payment will be in SDG currency).

Grade level: Grade 3 (out of 5)

Reporting to: Admin and Finance Manager, cc to Executive Director.

 Duties and responsibilities:

Major Functions/ Responsibilities: 

  • Support, train and supervision Finance Officers and projects accountants at Port-Sudan and states level to conduct effective financial supervision and provide financial documents and quality control.
  • Responsible for HOPE Administrative and Financial Procedures include following Tools & Accounting Cycle.
  • Support, train and supervision finance officers and projects accountants at Port-Sudan and states level to prepares financial payments by checking payment requests by using Payment Order (Annex 5) and making the payments for the organization's activities.
  • Support, train and supervision finance officers and projects accountants at Port-Sudan states level to Write cheques/ Bank Letters and withdrawals from the bank accounts according to the request by the projects officer and approval by Project Managers/ state field coordinator or/and HQ transfers. 
  • Compare, checking and follow-up of all procedures accounting of Cash Flow (credit and debit).
  • Support, train and supervision finance officers and projects accountants at Port-Sudan and states level to Control, receives, and prepares all liquidations of financial payment requests as well as supporting financial documents concerning the projects/ office including invoices.
  • Support, train and supervision finance officers and projects accountants at Port-Sudan and states level to Maintain and record monthly transaction list (Bank Book), and Petty Cash and reconcile it's with the monthly bank statement and prepare Bank Reconciliation. 
  • Support, train and supervision finance officers and projects accountants at Port-Sudan and states level to Ensure transactions are properly recorded by using relevant Financial and Administrative Tools of HOPE or those provided by partners.
  • Maintain financial files system and records of transactions by using QuickBooks.
  • Processing of staff monthly salary/ payroll and consultant's incentive according to HOPE procedures.
  • Cash count for Treasury at the end of each week, and month, and then match them with Bank Book.
  • Preparation of monthly and quarterly Finance Report.
  • Apply and maintain the financial documentation system, in HQ and Field offices.
  • Any other task or responsibility determined by management of HOPE.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: 

  1. At least 5 years of related experience in a similar position in finance;
  2. At least 3 years of experience working for non-governmental organizations;
  3. Education: University degree in accounting;
  4. Bachelor's Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred;
  5. Strong ability to work independently, organize work, meet deadlines, maintain composure, prioritize work under pressure, coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail;
  6. Fluent written and oral communication skills in English Language; and
  7. Experience designing and using excel.
