 Background:

    Under the supervision of the MCCCM Protection Officcer, the MCCCM Protection Assistant will ensure the effective implementation of Acted’s protection activities in the assigned sites of operation. This includes Community based protection and Protection monitoring activities. Protection Assistant is responsible for ensuring the full implementation of the protection activities by him and Community out-reach Volunteers. S/he will participate with the protection officer in assist the wok plan, and provide technical support to Community Based Protection Network (CBPN’s) and oversee outreach implementation

 

To implement emergency and humanitarian activities in a timely and professional manner, according to objectives, goals and indicators and in line with donor requirements and based on beneficiary needs.

  • Sectoral/technical working groups related to the project (if not represented by a TC or requested by the Officer)

National and international partner organizations as requested by the Officer.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Ensure the community structure in the targeted implantations areas is in place and active, follow up regularly on the performance of community outreach volunteers (CoVs) and community-based protection networks (CBPNs) and conduct regular meetings with CBPNs.
  •  Participate in the CBPNs establishment, orientation and
    training on Code of Conduct and PSEA to newly formed networks.
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of protection monitoring activities. To this end, support the Protection Officers and Team Leader in producing and updating monthly work plans and carry out Rapid Protection Assessment as well as Protection Monitoring activities at both HH and community level.
  • In coordination with MCCCM teams organize and engage CBPNs and/or Community Mobilizers in Protection Monitoring activities with the aim of collecting qualitative and quantitative data on the protection risks in the target sites and contribute to drafting regular protection monitoring reports.
  • Collect and analyze the feedbacks of the IDPs regarding the humanitarian
    assistance, share reports / referral to specific agencies and follow up on agencies’
    response and actions.
  •  Ensure the CoVs and CBPNs are in place and active, make regular follow up and organize
    different activities (Awareness sessions / HHs / awareness campaign ) and hold
    regular meetings with them

Receive individual needs for referrals (mobile or in field) and take

  • proper actions including writing referrals and provision of accurate information.
  • Follow the referral pathways between Acted and other humanitarian actors and make
    follow up of the issues raised to ensure feedback is provided on time.
  • Ensure referral data base is updated following the existing SoPs
  • Ensure proper recording of complaints received and actions taken and provide timely and
    accurate data and information to data entry and analysis.
  • Prepare reports weekly on the activities done and submit timely to MCCCM Protection Officer

     
  • Contribute to the planning and implementation of protection monitoring activities. To this end, support the Protection Officers and Team Leader in producing and updating monthly work plans and carry out Rapid Protection Assessment as well as Protection Monitoring activities at both HH and community level.   
  • All Acted staff are required to adhere to Acted code of conduct and Acted country employment policies.

     

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • % of sector milestones completed on time as per the original plan.
  • % of sector activities completed on time without the need for an extension.
  • % of contractual sector performance indicators achieved.
  • Effective coordination with MCCCM unit.
