Alsalam Organization for Rehabilitation and Development - AORD is a Voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization. works with communities to promote peace building, sustainable solutions for humanitarian aid, rehabilitation and development through life-saving, protection, education, Water sanitation and Hygiene and Food security and livelihood programs.
Since its establishment in 2007, AORD has been actively working among societies to promote peace building and the values of peaceful coexistence, build capacities for conflict transformation and promote social cohesion and integration with a focus on building the capacities of community actors, managing natural resources and increasing access to basic services.

Main Purpose: 

The Protection coordinator role will specifically focus on the delivery of high-quality protection services to address protection risks and barriers to humanitarian service gives for affected populations, ensuring services are inclusive and in line with IASC guidelines and humanitarian principles and standards.

She/ He will be responsible of the development and implementation of protection monitoring, information dissemination, referrals, legal services, emergency protection assistance and community-based protection programming in all AORD operation areas, as well as leading and supporting the management of relationships with partners where relevant.

Duties or Responsibilities:

1. Lead the development and implementation of all protection programs, including for CP, GBV, PSEA, and Protection overall.
2. She/ He will lead the design of protection monitoring methodologies, ensure adherence to program quality standards, and lead capacity building of staff and partners
3. Conduct and support ongoing monitoring of Protection activities, through frequent visits to field sites, to ensure minimum standards for Protection and progress toward targets.
4. Management of the Protection project specific budget at the HQ level.
5. Periodically review and manage M&E systems for Protection programming, in collaboration with the M and E coordinator, including, management of reporting mechanisms and information flow, and analysis of program data and impact.
6. Identify program gaps, areas of growth, and strategies and support in adapting program design to effectively meet beneficiary needs, the changing context, and other factors. 
7. Ensure that all interventions are following the AORD protection mainstreaming framework, international law and protection standards and national policies.
8. Identify opportunities for, design and develop concept notes and proposals for further protection programming protection monitoring and information dissemination 
9. Manage development and monitoring of Protection programming spending plans, workplans, and procurement and ensure progress against targets and spending by budget.
10. Ensure maintaining of program files and documentation as per program management minimum standards, including maintaining the confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data.
11. Provide continuous support to and ensure targeted capacity building of staff on Protection- with a specific focus on building the capacity of field staff.
12. When required, Participate in the recruitment and management of new Protection program staff, consultants or other external support, in coordination with HR.
13. Ensure the sectoral representation of AORD in Protection with partners, donors, national authorities and local actors, and will represent AORD in meetings of the Protection sectoral coordination group in Protection. Will also contribute to the smooth flow of information from the Protection sector
14. Ensure a positive working environment and good team dynamics (solve out potential conflicts and create good team sprit)
15. Build strong and collaborative relationships and established professional network and strengthen a high-functioning and collaborative working relationship with AORD Partners, Donors and project teams in all AORD operational Areas. 
16. Participate in all departmental meetings and office regular meetings.
17. Travel to AORD operational areas and working closely with teams on the ground.

Education: 

University degree in social sciences, law, social work, international development, or other relevant field from a recognized institution. 

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an entry to mid-level position, with experience in the field of humanitarian response and refugee/IDP protection working for NGOs, or relevant ministry or local authority. 
• Technical understanding of core protection concepts (including Child protection, GBV and PSEA), prevention and response strategies, including experience with operationalizing global best practices and international standards for implementing protection programming in humanitarian contexts.  
• Proven record of designing and facilitating trainings and workshops on protection-related topics.  
• Hands-on experience with protection case management, psychosocial support and supporting community-based protection structures. 
• Experience working with displaced or conflict affected populations. 
• Strong planning, organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both independently and within a team. 
• Integrity, strong work ethic, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure. 
• Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.  
• Full proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.

Languages:  

  Excellent skills in speaking, reading and writing both English and Arabic.

Physical Environment and Demands:

40% Office based with 60% regularly visits to the field offices

Child Protection: 

Demonstrate commitment to AORD’s Protection and safeguarding policy and PSEA policy through implementing the policy and report any actual or potential risk situations following the reporting procedures, being aware of abuse and risks to children, being vigilant, becoming familiar with the CPP, and preventing abuse/protect children.
