 Duties and responsibilities:

As a Child Protection Field Officer for Joint Response Project5 you will be responsible for implementing child protection programs in Kassala state, conducting assessments, providing direct support to vulnerable children, and advocating for their rights within our organization. You will work closely with project team, Implementer partner, communities, local authorities, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure the safeguarding and well-being of children in emergency in JR5 target areas.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor child protection programs and activities in accordance with the organization policies, project objectives, and donor compliances .
  • Provide direct support and assistance to children at risk or experiencing abuse, neglect, exploitation, or violence.
  • Participate in program activities & budget planning .
  1. Assessment and Case Management:
  • Conduct assessments to identify children in need of protection and determine appropriate interventions.
  • Develop individualized care plans and provide case management support to ensure the safety, well-being, and rights of children are upheld.
  1. Capacity Building and Training:
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for community members, caregivers, and local partners on child protection principles, child rights, and relevant laws and policies.
  • Build the capacity of local authorities and organizations to respond effectively to child protection issues and emergencies.
  1. Advocacy and Networking:
  • Advocate for the rights of children at the local, regional, and national levels, and engage with relevant stakeholders to promote child protection policies and legislation.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, community-based organizations, and other actors working in child protection.
  1. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
  • Monitor the progress and impact of child protection programs through regular field visits, data collection, and participatory monitoring techniques.
  • Prepare accurate and timely reports on program activities, achievements, challenges, and lessons learned for internal and external stakeholders.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, child development, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • At least 2-3 of relevant experience in child protection programming, including case management &advocacy and life skills approaches.
  • Strong understanding of child rights, child protection principles, and relevant international standards (e.g., UNCRC).
  • Experience working with children and families in crisis or emergencies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in multicultural teams and with diverse communities.
  • Fluent in spoken and written English, proficient in computer /Microsoft applications).  
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Knowledge & skills in the Team Up approach are preferable.
