Main Purpose of Job: 

 

This position will be responsible for keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition, and will perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, cleaning and stocking restrooms, washing walls, glass, and upholstered furniture, and removing rubbish. Duties may include notifying management of the need for repairs. The position is based in Atbara.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform cleaning of IRC GH, including:
  • Ventilate all the rooms.
  • Sweep and mop the floors.
  • Clean the toilet (detergent) in the morning when arriving and at the beginning of the afternoon.
  • Dust off the furniture.
  • Clean ceilings, removing spiders and their webs.
  • Do the dishes.
  • Empty the trash.

working in IRC office:

Daily

  • Upon arrival, prepare hot water for tea / coffee.
  • Ensure that there is always drinking water available (filter, bottles, etc.).
  • Sweep and mop the floors.
  • Check that the toilets are well stocked with paper.
  • Clean the toilet (detergent) in the morning when arriving and at the beginning of the afternoon.
  • Check that the water supply (kitchen, shower, etc.) is sufficient during water cuts.
  • Make sure to close the premises (doors, windows) and leave an outside light on, when there are no occupants in the premises.

Working in IRC office:

Regular

  • clean the furniture at least twice a week.
  • wash curtains and other fabrics at least once a month.
  • Performs window cleaning at least once a month.
  • Participates in setting up the premises during an event, a meeting.
  • Reports to the line manager on the maintenance / repair needs of the facilities / equipment of the assigned premises.
  • Warns immediately the hierarchical and / or technical referent when urgent repairs are to be carried out or when protective measures of the place must be taken (premises infested by insects, rats, etc.).

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Diploma in Administration, Development Studies, Social Sciences, or a similar field.
  • 5 years of work experience in administration management and liaison work.
  • Experience working with NGO preferred.
  • Familiarity and experience with standard administrative functions in an INGO set up.
  • Basic understanding of payment processing and reconciliations within an INGO set up.
  • Ability to respond to multiple priorities in a timely manner, producing high-quality outcomes.
  • A positive thinker with strong leadership, motivational and team building skills.
  • Good collaborator and influencer with effective interpersonal and analytical skills who work seamlessly across cultures, organizational units and suppliers.
  • Able to work effectively in a highly matrixed structure.
