Background: The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organization striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Protection of Family Links (PFL) in Port-Sudan. Purpose: PFL Field Officer actively contributes to the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the PFL activities in the SD AoR. S/He oversees the follow up and supports implementation of the PFL program including with the assigned SRCS branch(es). S/He works under the direct supervision of the PFL Delegate and provides support for the implementation of the PFL activities (PFL and Missing) in the field, SRCS and other stakeholders as per his/her specific duties. S/He based in,however, as Field Officer, s/he carries out activities in the field supporting her/his Line Manager and other Protection field colleagues, as required.

Duties and responsibilities:
- Plans, carries out and reports on PFL activities with complete autonomy under the supervision of the line manager.
- Supports PFL Delegate in the implementation and monitoring of the Missing activities (be it Family Needs Assessment and/or Accompaniment Programme in favor of the Families of the Missing Persons (FoMPs).
- Contributes to analyses of the security, socio-economic, cultural, and political environment in which the ICRC is working, shares relevant information with line manager, team members and reports any changes in the situation.
- Collects, compiles and translates PFL-related information and contributes to the preparation of written reports, under the lead of the PFL/PROT delegate.
- Contributes to analysing data and contributes to written internal reports; assists in institutional exercises relating to planning, budgeting and monitoring programmes.

- Contributes to the understanding of the PFL needs in SD Area of responsibility (AoR) of the respective branches through communication with SRCS Tracing Focal Point (TFP) and volunteers, active following of third-party reports, media, and other sources of information.
- Advises on, discusses, and contributes to the drafting of the quarterly PoA, during the quarterly PoA process, ensuring that PFL needs are met in the best possible way and program capacities are taken into consideration.
- Proactively identifies challenges and possible solutions to issues concerning PFL and communicates them appropriately with the PFL Delegate and SRCS.
- Supports and monitors activities agreed upon in the quarterly PoA (field trips, workshops, reporting, other activities planned) and ensures reporting on the activities carried out by the SRCS RFL team.

- Proactively suggests corrective and capacity building measures related to the quality and quantity of the work carried out by the SRCS PFL team in the branches, thus ensuring partnership and transfer of tools and competence.
- S/He independently collects and treats tracing cases Tracing Request /AoA – Allegation of Arrest /AoD – Allegation of Detention (TC/AoA/AoD) for IDPs/refugees/other beneficiaries, and other foreign nationals as required, from accepting a case until its closure and report as per workflow and guidelines the information on the cases as well as update in Prot6.
- S/He establishes and updates regularly a stakeholder’s map, builds and maintains a network of interlocutors in the SD AoR key for the missing file ensuring that this information is shared with the PFL delegate.
