Logistics Assistant

 Background:

The International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC), an impartial, neutral, and independent organization striving to protectand assist the victimsof war and internal violence,has been workingin Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Logistics Assistant in Kassala.

Purpose: 

The Logistics Assistant supports the Kassala Sub-delegation and is in charge of the logistics department and responsible for following up on and handling requests relating to logistical needs. He reports directly to Logistician.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provides support in accordance with logistics standards, ICRC rules, financial procedures, and regulations. This may include some or all the following activities:
  • Assists the Logistician in daily tasks. 
  • Liaises with other logistics units (e.g., Supply Chain, fleet, warehousing, dispatch, AirOps and Impex)
  • Implements and runs complex logistic procedures. 
  • Ensures ICRC procurement rules are applied. 
  • maintenance, follow-up, and statistical reporting.
  • follow-up on inventory levels.
  • Transport of goods and coordinating trips into the field.
  • Filling and archiving of documents.
  • Assist Logistics for any related job requested by LSM.
  • Prepare and manage HAC notifications.
  • Ensure procurement are done as per financial procedure.
  • Ensure Profiles are submitted on time.
  • Manages the processes and payment Petty cash.
  • Follows up on all work-related messages and correspondence with the relevant contacts and departments.
  • Collects and shares information to improve the ICRC’s understanding of the environment and humanitarian trends and responses.
  • Strictly and consistently apply ICRC security rules, ICRC staff regulations as well as all relevant ICRC technical rules and procedures.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Vocational high school diploma.
  • Very good command (spoken and written) of English or the local working language.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Driving licence.
  • Minimum two years' experience in a similar field.
  • Detailed knowledge of the local area.
