The International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC), an impartial, neutral, and independent organization striving to protectand assist the victimsof war and internal violence,has been workingin Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Storekeeper in Port-Sudan 

Purpose: 

Storekeeper is responsible for the proper handling of the warehouse of the for ICRC medium/large operation and/or for specific sectors, including store organization in accordance with standard operating procedures.

• Receives and checks incoming goods against the delivery note and reports any issues. 
• Ensures that goods are properly stored, picked, packed and loaded and reports any issues.
• Ensures that all the stored goods are properly labelled (expiry dates, batch numbers, manufacturer, etc.) and recorded.
• Updates bin cards and stock cards when supervising an inventory transaction.
• Is responsible for maintenance of the warehouse as well as its infrastructure (pallets, shelving, electricity and water supply, lighting, air-conditioning)
• Ensures integrity of the buildings, prevention of fire hazards, prevention of damage to goods by leaking water
• Reports any damage to the warehouse facilities, requests and follows up repairs.
• Authorizes mobilization of daily workers in coordination with the direct superior
• Ensuring adequate clothing for warehouse staff, overalls, and safety shoes.
• Preventing Hazards to warehouse staff, due to handling of (cutting) tools, slipping, falling of goods, handling too heavy loads, mechanical injuries during loading and electrical appliances.
• Ensures that goods with different expiry dates, batch numbers and purchase order references are stored separately with updated bin cards.
• Supervises Storekeepers during reception of goods ensuring that the standard procedures are respected, and that quantity and quality control is seriously and fairly undertaken.
• Ensures that packing Lists, Waybills and other relevant cargo accompanying documents are issued correctly and that Bin cards updated accordingly.
• Ensures safe loading of the trucks with forklift (or loaders), both for commodities and for trucks itself, performs any other operation with forklift when needed.
• Ensuring offloading plans are done in time and in a cost effective away. 

• Professional Experience /Certifications / Education required
• Minimum two years' experience in storekeeping.
• Team-management experience an asset.
• Medical warehouse position only: experience working in a pharmaceutical company required.
• Knowledge of fleet management and spare parts is an asset.
• Secondary school diploma.
• Vocational training in administration or logistics, or equivalent experience.
• Good command of English
• Computer literacy.​
