WASH and NRM Senior Officer

 Duty Station: SRCS Hub in Kassala or Northern state, with regular travels to the other state Kassala or Northern State
 Duration: 12 months with possibility of extension

 Background:

WASH / NRM will assist SRCS 2 State Branch with the implementation of Enhancing Food Security and Resilience of Rural Communities in Kassala and Northern States including coordination, training and PMER of the project activities implemented in Kassala State and Northern State with a particular focus on managing and motivating volunteers. The WASH / NRM will have overall technical responsibility of managing the Enhancing Food Security and Resilience of Rural Communities in Kassala and Northern States Programme including implementation, monitoring and reporting. The WASH / NRM will work under the direct supervision of the Programme Coordinator in close coordination and collaboration with the relevant project team at SRCS branch level. In addition, the WASH / NRM is required to assist SRCS in maintaining close coordination in technical areas with relevant authorities and other stakeholders at state level. Also required to assist SRCS in maintaining close coordination in technical areas with relevant authorities and other stakeholders at state level



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  1. Coordination of project technical activities
  2. Contribute in maintaining project implementation on track and monitoring progress of the project, and the project partners’ role at field level.
  3. Motivating and managing project volunteers during the course of the project implementation.
  4. Participate in development of partnerships with local stakeholders to facilitate delivery of field level activities.
  5. Ensure safe, dignifying and quality service delivery for target communities.
  6. Liaison between stakeholders, to ensure they are informed and engaged 
    1. Facilitating dialogue between stakeholders at field level through meetings and individual interviews.
    2. Promote and support networking initiatives for stakeholders and actors at field level.
    3. Contribute in supporting capacity development of the project stakeholders to grantee informed and effective involvement of the stakeholders.
  7. Technical support to project volunteers
    1. Contributing to capacity building and development of the project volunteers in PSS, delivery of dignified services etc. to secure quality delivery of the project activities.
    2. Participate in conducting, facilitating or co-facilitating training workshops for the project volunteers.
    3. Mentoring and coaching the project volunteers in order to achieve the ultimate goal of the project, as required, including supporting caring for volunteers roll-out.
  8. Project monitoring and evaluation
    1. Contribute in setting up and maintaining monitoring systems and reporting formats. 
    2. Receiving and reviewing project progress reports submitted by the project volunteers.
    3. Monitor day-to-day implementation of the project activities and discuss emerging issues and problems with stakeholders in the field.
    4. Contributing in baseline and/or end line assessments, review, lessons learnt workshop of the project.
    5. Prepare for and participate in regular progress planning meetings with the line manager, and at other staff meetings as appropriate.
    6. Organize and conduct one-to-one progress and planning meetings with the project volunteers.
  9. Coordination of project reporting processes 
  10. Submitting monthly progress reports of the project implementation to the project manager.
  11. Delivering feedback to other project stakeholders at field level.
  12. Other 
  13. Contribute in development of new funding proposals and extended project proposals.
  14. Participate in and contribute to SRCS, Northern State and Kassala annual planning process.
  15. Where appropriate, attend internal/external meetings and workshops relevant to the project work as agreed with Line Manger.
  16. Undertake any other tasks in agreement with the line manager.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in social science , Agriculture, Forestry or equivalent specialized certification.

Experience of

  • Previous working experience, minimum 3 years working with communities in Humanitarian organization or RC/RC movement set-up
  • Adequate IT skills and to work smoothly in online TEAMS etc

Skills in

  • Reporting in EU formats
  • Submit weekly reports, photo video documentations on field visits.
  • Computer skills including word processing and advanced Excel skills and working in Microsoft TEAMS

Working Abilities

  • Work as part of a team in a supportive way.
  • Work under pressure and to strict deadlines.

Attitudes

  • Willing to work long and irregular hours and on public holidays as required.
  • Commitment to the fundamental principles of RC/RC movement and to the mission of Sudanese Red Crescent Society.
