 Duties and responsibilities:

 

The MERL Officer will provide?


The primary responsibility of the MERL Officer is to support the Project Manager and MERL Coordinator/Manager in coordinating data collection, interpretation, and reporting on project results, as well as monitoring project progress at the field level. They contribute to the capacity building of the project and M&E team of local partners to maintain high standards of accountability to target groups, in line with Plan International and international humanitarian standards.

 

The position involves overseeing?


The role involves overseeing data collection, monitoring project progress, preparing required reports, and conducting regular monitoring visits to project sites. The MERL Officer ensures proper documentation of project interventions, and lessons learned, and generates success stories.

 

Essential criteria for this role include?


Candidates need a BSc degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, or a related field, at least 2-3 years of experience in monitoring and evaluation and project management within an INGO or UN agency, fluency in English and Arabic, and strong interpersonal and communication skills.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Knowledge and Expertise:

  • BSc degree in Business Administration, Statistics, Economics, or any related field.
  • At least 2-3 years of experience working in monitoring and evaluation and project management in an INGO or UN agency.
  • Demonstrable experience in monitoring and evaluation and coordination.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including good listening skills, influencing, negotiation, and coaching.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, both written and spoken.
  • Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Skills:

  • Proven ability to work creatively, innovatively, and effectively with limited direct supervision.
  • Experience in developing and managing qualitative and quantitative data collection.
  • Ability to facilitate community and child participation in monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Proficiency in database management (design, entry, analysis).
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to translate key findings into concrete programmatic recommendations.
  • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Good skills in computer information and communication.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in capacity building.
  • Ability to document program knowledge.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to manage stress and work effectively.

Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of theories of child-rights programming and child protection (programmatic and safeguarding).
  • Understanding of development issues, trends, challenges, and opportunities, and their implications for community development.
  • Knowledge of results-based management and demonstrated experience as a development professional in E&R.
  • Understanding of gender-transformative programs/projects.
  • Understanding concepts of accountability to affected populations.

PHYSICAL ENVIRONMENT
The holder of this position will be working in an office environment with field visits, which will entail 70% travel within Sudan.
