 Background:

General Responsibility:

The overall objective of ERM Case Worker position is to ensure, under the responsibility of CP Manager, the implementation of activities related to child protection, within the frame of the project.

In the course of undertaking his/her tasks, she/he represents TGH with professionalism, honesty and commitment and attempts at all times to maintain TGH professional reputation through the work implemented.

Members of the ERM team will be required to spend significant periods (for days, possibly weeks at one time) staying overnight in basic conditions in locations away from their assigned base (staying overnight at community leaders’ homes or other locations in the field). Team members must be willing and able to travel to, stay, and work in different states in Darfur.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities and related tasks

1. Activities implementation

Implement psychosocial and case management activities

Related tasks:

  • Participate in the identification and registration of children at risk according to Child Protection Minimum Standards.
  • Conduct follow-up and family visits to provide psychosocial first aid, psychosocial support or any other needed assistance, depending on the child and family’s needs.
  • Ensure that urgent and challenging cases are immediately discussed with Child Protection Manager
  • In line with Child Protection Minimum Standards (CPMS), provide case management support to children identified, and follow all case management steps including referrals to specialized services in good coordination with Child Protection Manager and Project Manager.
  • Advice parents and raise their awareness on children’s rights and children’s wellbeing.
  • Ensure good coordination and information sharing with Child Protection Manager, while preserving the confidentiality principle.
  • Ensure cases data collection and management by using case management tools:
  • Ensure proper and safe files archiving regarding followed cases.
  • Assures coordination with all relevant stakeholders regarding case management.
  • Conduct awareness raising sessions using a community based approach focusing on child protection, GBV.
  • Mobilize communities in locality targeted in the project and participate in community meetings.
  • Participate in community based structures/public services capacity building (e.g. CBCPNs, youth committees, sector leaders, teachers, school clubs, local authorities, etc.).
  • Contribute to prepare, organize and carry out items distribution to the beneficiaries such as assisted devices for children with disabilities.
  • Participate in the implementation of CP activities, according to priorities and project implementation plan as set by the CP Manager and Project Manager.
  • Monitor the use of CP material and equipment provided in MPCACs and schools targeted.
  • Contribute to the implementation of trainings, as directed by CP manager.
  • Support CP training sessions as requested by CP Manager.
  • Contribute to data entry related to CP activities.
  • Follow-up the volunteers from the community working on CP activities (monitor the tasks requested to the volunteers, support them and ensure they meet expected quality).
  • Share information about security updates in the area with the CP Manager, Project Manager and Field Coordinator.
  • Support partners staff to carry out their tasks, as directed by CP Manager and Project Manager.
  • Facilitate awareness raising sessions on children rights.
  • Facilitate awareness raising on PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) to affected populations and local communities and the various mechanisms for reporting abuse or concerns related to PSEA, including contact information.
  • Ensures that TGH staff and partners respect and implement the Child Safeguarding Policy
  • Ensure community awareness of TGH FCRM (Feedback, Complaints and Response Mechanism), and support community engagement in this mechanism.

2. Monitoring and reporting

Related tasks:

  • Contribute to the data collection from beneficiaries as directed by CP manager.
  • Contribute to create beneficiary list soft version and update it as much as needed.
  • Carry out various surveys as directed by the CP manager (e.g. baseline, post distribution monitoring).
  • Ensure timely reporting on the conducted activities to the CP Manager.
  • Inform the CP Manager of any community context updates (e.g. difficulties linked to the project implementation, relevant new training to be conducted, etc.).
  • Inform the CP Manager of any interesting events that can be used to communicate about the project or TGH (success story, community event. etc).
  • Support and monitor that TGH staff respect the PSEA and Child Safeguarding guidelines.
  • Be fully aware of the CP weekly, monthly plan.
  • Collect various CP field data as requested for activity follow-up purpose.

3. Capacity-building

Related tasks:

  • Participate actively in the training courses recommended by TGH, and share new skills and knowledge with his/ her colleagues.
  • Inform his/her manager about identified training needs and/or training opportunities on his/ her job related matters
  • Coordinate with project partners as needed and share updates, inputs with Management team.

Any other tasks assigned by Management Team based on TGH activities ongoing that may require support during project implementation.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Required knowledge and skills and required

  • Degree/diploma and/or certification in public health, childhood development, Child Protection, Social and Education sciences, Psychology or any other related fields participated in practical CP case management.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in CP projects preferably with NGOs, CP institutions or any related bodies.
  • Experience in community work is highly appreciated.
  • Experience in emergency Project.
  • Basic computer skills (word/excel/outlook).
  • Basic knowledge in English is an asset
  • Knowledge of the locality and good relationships with community leaders.
  • Proficient in the main local language in the area.
