MEAL Supervisor
ADRA

ADRA Sudan has been operational in Sudan for over 40 years and currently leads humanitarian assistance efforts in conflict-affected Blue Nile, White Nile and West Darfur States, supporting IDPs, returnees, refugees and host communities. ADRA is also implementing urban programming supporting women projects in Khartoum state.ADRA Sudan’s current areas of programming include food Security and livelihoods, WASH, nutrition, Peace building and Conflict Resolution, Education and protection, with gender Equity and environment mainstreamed.

 Background:

Job Summary:

The MEAL Supervisor will oversee the monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning activities for ADRA’s projects in Geinena, West Darfur. The supervisor will ensure that robust MEAL systems are in place to track project performance, measure impact, and promote learning. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in MEAL processes within a humanitarian or development context and demonstrate a commitment to improving project effectiveness and accountability.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitoring and Evaluation:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive MEAL plans to monitor project activities and outcomes.
    • Design and utilize data collection tools and methodologies to gather quantitative and qualitative data.
    • Conduct regular field visits to monitor the implementation of project activities and verify data accuracy.
  • Accountability:
    • Establish and maintain feedback mechanisms to ensure that community members and beneficiaries can provide input and voice concerns.
    • Ensure that feedback is systematically collected, documented, and addressed in a timely manner.
    • Promote transparency and accountability in all project activities and communications.
  • Learning:
    • Facilitate the analysis and interpretation of monitoring and evaluation data to generate insights and lessons learned.
    • Organize learning sessions and workshops to share findings and promote best practices among project staff and stakeholders.
    • Document and disseminate success stories, case studies, and reports to demonstrate project impact and enhance organizational learning.
  • Reporting:
    • Prepare and submit regular MEAL reports to the Project Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
    • Ensure that reports are accurate, comprehensive, and submitted in a timely manner.
    • Contribute to donor reports by providing MEAL data and analysis.

  • Capacity Building:**
    • Train and mentor project staff on MEAL concepts, tools, and practices.
    • Build the capacity of local partners and community members to participate in MEAL activities.
    • Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the project team.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field. A Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in MEAL roles within a humanitarian or development context.
  • Strong knowledge of MEAL principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in data collection and analysis software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, Excel).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging environments.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is an advantage.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in designing and implementing MEAL systems in conflict or post-conflict settings.
  • Knowledge of local context and community dynamics in West Darfur.
  • Familiarity with donor requirements and reporting standards.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
