ADRA Sudan has been operational in Sudan for over 40 years and currently leads humanitarian assistance efforts in conflict-affected Blue Nile, White Nile and West Darfur States, supporting IDPs, returnees, refugees and host communities. ADRA is also implementing urban programming supporting women projects in Khartoum state.ADRA Sudan’s current areas of programming include food Security and livelihoods, WASH, nutrition, Peace building and Conflict Resolution, Education and protection, with gender Equity and environment mainstreamed.

 Background:

Job Summary:

The Driver will be responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for ADRA staff, guests, and materials in Geinena, West Darfur. This role requires a skilled and experienced driver who is familiar with local roads and traffic regulations. The ideal candidate will ensure the proper maintenance of the vehicle and adhere to ADRA’s safety standards and protocols.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Transportation:
    • Safely transport ADRA staff, guests, and materials to and from specified locations.
    • Ensure timely arrival at destinations while adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
    • Assist passengers with loading and unloading materials as needed.
  • Vehicle Maintenance:
    • Regularly inspect the vehicle to ensure it is in good working condition.
    • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as checking oil, water, and tire pressure.
    • Report any mechanical issues to the Logistics Officer and ensure timely repairs.
  • Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, fuel consumption, and mileage.
    • Ensure that all necessary vehicle documents, such as insurance and registration, are up to date.
    • Complete and submit vehicle logbooks and trip reports as required.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to ADRA’s safety policies and procedures at all times.
    • Ensure the vehicle is equipped with necessary safety equipment such as a first aid kit and fire extinguisher.
    • Follow all security protocols, especially when traveling to remote or high-risk areas.

  • Support Tasks:
    • Assist with logistical tasks such as loading and unloading supplies, setting up for events, and other duties as assigned.

Provide support during emergencies or urgent tasks as needed


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional driving experience, preferably with an NGO or international organization.
  • Knowledge of local roads and traffic regulations in West Darfur.
  • Basic mechanical skills for vehicle maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends if required.
  • Fluency in Arabic is required; proficiency in English is an advantage.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience driving in conflict or post-conflict settings.
  • Familiarity with security protocols and practices for safe driving in high-risk areas.
  • First aid training or certification.
